So for those people who've already done the program, I was just wondering if countries do special events for something relevant to their home culture, ie: Canada does Canada Day event, Germany does Oktoberfest, etc etc.

I've never understood why the UK Pavilion sells Guinness or does St. Patrick's? I'm sure the Irish wouldn't be impressed with us laying claim to their country.

I dont think its wise to get into any debate about the uk/ireland etc but guiness is one of the best selling stouts in the uk so thats why its sold in the pavillion

Last year in the UK we celebrates 5th November - Guy Fawkes day, they had fun and games in the street, and BBQ for the cast backstage and a guy tied to the big sundial in the middle of the pavillion :)

My flatmate works in Japan and they had some childrens day thing...not sure what it's all about, celebrating children or something, but they all got to play with the kids and wear kimonos...whether it was their costume or not.

Norway celebrated their 'Independence Day' (or some such) too. Not sure if they had any actual activities in the pavilion, but the ones that weren't working were all drinking round the world lol.

True, but you could argue that curry is the biggest selling food variety in England too, doesn't mean they should start banging out Tikka Massala and Korma. If it's not a product from the UK, they shouldn't sell it in my opinion. Much like the UK Merch shops seem confused in selling Addidas trainers - surely they should be in the German pavilion.

The Sports shop has been removed and the main sport shop in Epcot is not in Germany.

EVERYONE is irish on St Paddys lol. It is always controversial when its st paddys in epcot. We celebrate it coz its an Irish Holiday, this includes Northern Ireland so i dont see anything wrong with it.

Altho one time Niamh drew an irish flag on the floor (do you remember Michelle?) and our manager bollocked her for it.

Once you're in the UK pavillion, you'll realise how silly and dumb ppl can be when dealing with the so called "Friction" between the UK and Ireland.

I reckon they should promote St andrews and st Davids.... maybe St Georges day!

BTW Canada Rocks in EPCOT. we drink around the world and etc. i did it last year. we met up at someones apartment and had Bucks fizz and pancake (obviously with real maple syrup). there was about 20-30 of us in red canadian gear and we took pictures with EVERY Canadian family we pass-by.

during my time on the program they DID have indian/asian inspired items on the menu (veg samosas)
i think its great that they have items from other parts of the world because that way its representing how the UK is a mixture of many different cultures and i personally thing thats something we should be proud of........

Bollox to that guest who read up on "her" heritage****, everytime a guest said that i simply asked "whereabouts is your family from in ireland?"... did they know?... of course not... instead they carry on telling the story of how she knows..... " My grand pappy's parents are half irish and half british, i think britain is in London somewhere" OOOH the giggles we had after!

my manager that had a word with niamh was out of line but she had to say something because a guest complained. i spoke to the manager after and she felt bad after.

I remember one time i was talking to a bunch of yanks and i explained how us southeners are rude and not as happy as most of you northeners, suddenly this random southener from London INTERRUPTS us and shouts at me for saying that

....... once she left the guests stared at me and i pulled a face and said " SHE just prooooved my point" and we were pissing ourselves.
