About the UK phone interview results and what not. I keep replaying mine in my head, what I was asked and how I answered it- this is going to occupy my a large proportion of my mind this week until we find out! However, what I do know is that I feel like I answered them the best way I could, and I'm so glad that I was able to prepare for it- and regardless of the result, I will be proud of the fact that I got this far considering how many applicants there were.(of course I will be gutted if I don't get through, but who wouldn't be?!) The wait is nearly over... for now anyway lol. Good luck to everyone else as well!!
I am exactly the same....I keep asking myself if the answers to the questions in my phone interview were answered the way it should b. I keep thinking i was so nervous that day and i had no one to tell me what the questions were coz i was one of the first ones to do it. i asked for the day the day after we got told that we got accepted it for it and now i think i wish i did it later coz i wouldnt b waiting so long for the results and plus i would b more prepared for it. I am so worried and nervous and i keep thinking the same....what if??!! i am already devastated about the results lol.
Sounds like we're feeling the exact same way!! lol. I keep worrying that I spoke too fast because I was nervous/excited (as I'm prone to talking quickly when I'm excited about something! ha!) I think it's also difficult because we don't really know what they judge us on/ look for in the phone interviews? I looked back on old forum posts from last year and looked at what people were asked in their phone interviews, which helped me prepare. Hopefully they won't leave us hanging on until the end of the week!
My only regret about the phone interview is I had it at 10am, which is pretty early for me! So i just hope I didnt sound sleepy on the phone but i made sure i didnt, can of red bull for breakfast should have helped! I was kind of prepared for the questions, especially ones like "what cultural attractions are there where you live" because I asked someone who I knew from the program last time. . So i think I did the best I could, all anyone can do really!
I didn't get asked about the area where I live. I was prepared for that one as well, and I had some interesting facts! lol
haha i told them Im doing my dissertation on tourism in southport, so that must have helped! and i talked about how we hosted the golf open last year. So im just glad I had something to talk about! There must be some places where youd actually have to make things up, or dig very deep for facts!
One of my facts would've been that the town which is closest to me used to have a chocolate factory which was Roald Dahl's inspiration for Charlie and the Chocolate factory- as he lived near here (I can see why it was as when it was open you never did see anyone come in or out!). Which I thought was pretty cool, especially to tell the child guests or something. Plus in the village where I live is this massive 18th century french style chateau which is run by the national trust and is a tourist spot. I think that if you dig deep enough, you can find something interesting to say about anywhere.
thats a pretty cool story to tell! Oh we did have the chewit factory till they closed it! I used to love finding packs of Chewits around the world when i was little and looking where they were from and theyd all say Southport! True, everywhere will have their own story to tell and if youre from a certain place im sure youd know all about them!
Haha I do that with a particular brand of ice cream cones as they come from the town near me!! Exciting stuff!! lol. Yeah I thought that was a pretty cool story- but then the factory was knocked down and some flats were built on it. And they knocked part of it down that wasn't meant to be knocked down because it has the historical building protection, or whatever it is!! haha lol.
haha, so when you tell the story to kids that your hometown makes ice cream. . perhaps skip the bit where the factory gets knocked down.
Haha I can imagine it now.... 'Hey Kids!! Where I grew up there was a chocolate factory which Roald Dahl based Charlie and the Chocolate factory on, because no one ever did see anyone go in or out of it..... but then they knocked it down to build some flats on' *Tumbleweed goes rolling by* Lol
Ah yes. The most difficult thing I've had to explain before was what a plaster was lol. This was at discovery cove and the trainer was like, 'what's a plaster?' so I was explaining it, and then she eventually went 'Ohhh you mean a bandaid?!' I was just thinking, umm if that's what you want to call it then yeah?!
Wow, that's cool, I didn't realise it was based on anything - gosh what you can earn from wdwip.com! I don't really remember my interview, i know i was talking alot...as usual! and she couldn't find me on the system so that took up alot of time! Then i was talking about London, as i was a tour guide there, that always interests people - especially Americans because you tell them it was on an open topped double decker red bus - they get all excited... Fingers crossed for everyone!
Just mentioning bandaids reminds me of last time I was over at Disney I was heading for a bus outside Pleasure Island coming away from the Comedy Club (R.I.P ) and my girlfriend ran for the bus (in flip flops), tripped and smashed her knee against the things they have in the parking spaces to stop cars hitting the curbs...got on the bus and her leg was a total mess and all these Americans were like "bandaids!" and were throwing them at us haha. Aaanyway..next day I went to get crutches from the hotel (Pop Century ) and they didnt have any so had to wheel her round the parks in a wheelchair for a week haha. Got on some of the rides really quick though..like Splash Mountain had a 45 minute wait and we walked straight on, 'cos theres loads of steps. Got to sit at the front as well!
I seriously do think I need to calm down though time to call on old friend Stella Artois..and, um..Sausage Roll (just 'cos I'm hungry)
