Hey, Oh my god! In the last few days my whole world has been turned around and I don't know what to do!!!!!! On Monday I had an email offering me the 6 month quick service f+b program and I have accepted the offer but am not sure if I should go. The reasons to go - The international program was clearly the best year of my life, at the time I didn't want to come home, I loved living in Orlando, I don't have any serious ties here in England I'm just a shop girl living at home with mum and dad, the fact that it is quick service does not bother me I worked in Macdonalds with I was a teenager and the experiance is not about money. I can't help feein that this opputunity will never come up again and I will always regret it if I don't go. The reasons not to go - I have made loads of plans for this summer that I was lookin forward to doing, tipical on the day I got the offer I had just booked flights for me and a friend to go to florida in june and we were planning on visiting our friend on the DCL (an amazing holiday that will not come up again for this price as hes just doing the one contract), by canceling that I not only have to pay £250 pounds for the cancelled tickets but i have really disapointed my friend who was really looking forward to it and if it gets cancelled she will have nothing so I feel selfish, I was also planning on attending 2 weddings!!! one in scotland so i was planning on goin to Edinburgh afterwards and the other in las vegas!!!I will never have another chance to go to a vegas wedding I'm sure and vegas is my fav place in the world. There r also some reunions i wanted to attend, one of my bestest friends is having a girls weekend for her bday, theres a huge reunion in August thats being held in my home town!!!all my friends will be there some of whom i will not have seen in ages and I was thinking of planning another reunion in bournemouth as the one last summer was so much fun. Also I have been having driving lessons and failed my test several times and in Nov when i would come home my theory will be invalid. I've been waiting for something like this to come up for so long and can't believe its happened at the worst time, please help me decide what to do. Jess xx
is there any possiblities that the dates of your contract can be changed so as you don't have to miss anything?
I don't think they r offering any other collage programs, they will prob never do this agian plus i've accepted so if i turn it down now they prob won't take me agin as i would have mucked them about.
have you tried emailing or phoning jason and explaining your situation, as he seems like a nice enough bloke and who nos he may just hold the key info as to any other dates you could go as i've heard about other being other the 6 month contract starting i think november time. Oh the other had if you do stick with it and go the time ur ment to be going ur friend who is doing the cruise could get ur ticket swapped meaning she can still go and not miss out on that?
Jess! I'm glad someone is as confused about this program as me! ??? I have been offered a position too but to be honest quick service food & bev scares me a lot!!! I've only ever done merch with Disney at Epcot and on the cruise. I'm similar to you nothing really to keep me here but I have been looking to get back to the states for a long time now and I was hoping for something a little longer but my boyfriend from the ship is living in Florida and we have been doing this long distance thing for a long time now and this is the first positive thing I have had to get me into the country for longer than a few weeks! :-\ But it is all so rushed! I only got the e-mail on Monday, had to respond by Tuesday (which I have said yes to for the moment!) and now they want me to book a visa appointment and leave on the 14th May!!! I really would need to tell my work by Friday if I'm going to do it! What's the rush??!!! I think you have more of a dilemma than me though. I won't miss anything this summer apart from Bon Jovi in Glasgow in June!!! :'( Post what you decide! I'll let you know what I've decided! Laura.
JUST DO IT!!! LOL, then we can all hang out when we get there, have some drinks and have some laughs!! Disney was the BEST time I ever had in my life and I was most happy when I was down there with my friends! So it's quick serve! Who cares!!! We're going to have an amazing time so just DO IT!! I agree that Disney is a once in a lifetime opportunity, but a) you have done it before b) just because you turn it down this time, does not necessarily mean you won't get another chance. Just let them know that unfortunately, there is too much going on and you can't possibly arrange things to work out this summer but that you would really like to if they have another opportunity. c)Your friend won't get married again (hopefully, anyway!) now that is a once in a lifetime opportunity. it may depend on how good of friends you are with them, but I would not skip out on my best friends wedding for the world! In essence, you need to do what you really want to. Sorry to go against you Franimal, but I would have to say the opposite... I think your friends are what's important! Just think, in the long run, who's going to be there for you? your friends or Disney? my bet is on your friends... plus, if Disney is the company that I think they are, then I'm sure they would understand! It's a tough choice, but as I said before, do what you feel is right. Best wishes with your dilemma!
OK guys, I have come to a decision and your all gonna think I'm mad but I can't go through with it!!Have not done the deed in contacting disney but plan to later this eve, gonna try and find a way to make it sound like i'm really sorry for messing them around and I would love to work for them again but I just acn't do this summer!!! I really am lookin forward to these weddings so much and at least this way i will not know what i'm missing out on whereas I am bound to hear from friends how great the holidays, weddings, reunions are. What it comes down to is the only thing that makes me want it is that I loved living there but I am settled back home now and feel it is a sign that I got offered it just hours after booking flgihts for a holiday. Anyway it always takes me ages to settle somewhere, when I did the IP I was just gettin settled in at 6 months really. Anyone that knew me at the begining of the contract would say i'm quiet and the peeps who knew me at the end would say I'm a nutter!!! Laura - If u ask my opinion u should go, u say your boyfriend is there and this could be the only chance for u to be together!!and u say u have been trying to get back to america for ages, it sounds like u have nothing to loose. Shame this summer is not right for me as we would have had the same contract!I noticed u were there in 2002 only months b4 I arrived so we must have known some of the same people. Never mind. xx
Well done Jess. I think that you've done the best thing you could have done given the circumstances. I know it must have been a hard decision but as people have said before this doesn't mean its going to be the last chance you get. It might be an idea to say that if the program comes up next year you'd definately be interested or drop them a new email asking if its likely to come up next year. This way you can have a look at it all and arrange things around it. My theory is if you are meant to go back it will be offered again next year, and as things are you have some brill plans for the summer so hope you have fun.

Hey Ona, Don't worry u didn't confuse me. I am actually really grateful for yours and steves help, I accually ended up getting advice from Ross's mum haha. Was expecting her to tell me to go so when she said stay I was very surprised and somehow felt she was right. I always had a gut feelin I should not go, lets hope I'm right. I wrote disney a letter saying I had changed my mind due to a holiday I wasn't able to cancel and made it sound like I was really sorry and gutted. I accually got an email back from them offering to put my arrival date back til June the 3rd or June 20th but I wrote back that these dates were still b4 the trip. I don't think they will offer me a date any later, if they do I'll be a bit stuck again. Def won't go if its July as I have to go to this Scotish wedding but if they offer me August I will have a tough choice on my hands again as all I'd be misssing is Dannys party and the Vegas wedding!!!! Its on the magic that ross works(tipical Mark is on the wonder), we haven't had the cruise booked yet as the dates haven't been relised for June but fingers crossed and if I see Clappy I'll say hi for you. You'll have to let me know where ur working if you will be in WDW bythen! We will pop over and pay u a visit when we r in the parks.xx
