did anyone drop their shoes in the lake after their last shift or was that just a u.k tradition?? it must be filling up with stinking shoes by now!! ;D
ha ha , no wasnt just a Uk tradition-- a lot of countries did it.... well we on our last shift decided to do something different and we dropped our shoes on the beach between the outpost and germany.. it was great especially when I came back after a month and they were still there ;D and they probably still are...
Ha ha! It wasn't just shoes we used to throw in the lake on our last shift! On a clear day, if you look into the lagoon from the lower deck of the Rose and Crown restaurant, you'll see a LOT of plates and cutlery. I don't know how it all got down there!  he he it was such a long walk back up to the kitchen... :
The Canadian Merchie's jump into the waterfall by the O Canada attration, and leave their shoes at the bottom. Although I'm not sure if that still happens. Can anyone confirm?
I don't remember that although I'm english and left in Jan 2001. I do remember the canadians used to set off at the start of the illuminations and have to do a circuit of the world showcase before it finished on their last night! I'm not sure if they ever did it in time... I'd rather have a good old 'knees up' in the rose and crown any day...
I only got back from working in the Rose and crown 3 weeks ago, so i'm still very much missing everything out there! I can honestly say that the tradition of the shoes has not been lost, i threw mine in with a big splash for both and then ran away quickly when i found out they were floating....i'm sure some boat will have sank because of them...oh well!! About the knees up...we had a new restaurant manager at the begining of the year who banned knees up after a cast member swore onstage and was complained about... we all go in the bar now and ring the bell and make our own announcements with Pam there ofcourse! Damn, i really miss it all :'(
I threw my shoes in the lake back in june....they were sooo bad i have no doubt that they sunk....I know alot of people before me made they way to lower deck or the VIP area to throw their shoes in too...and as far as I'm aware Merch still do too...though they through their shoes at the disabled area for illuminations inbetween UK and Canada
Hey! I left Canada at the end of July and I threw my boots in the waterfall. The group of us that left that day all did, but we were all too lazy to run (and we got off early) and the water just looked too disgusting to jump in (and I can't swim and I'm short so the water would've been over my head!!! HA!). I know that people do still do the run and do still jump in the waterfall (Kathy and Enrique both did - brave souls!!!). Such a sad day. Shan
Glad to hear the run and shoe throwing is still happening for the Canadian Merchies. If I remember correctly, the first lovely ladies to throw their boots in the waterfall were Tracy and Amanda - it was an idea that came to us on a silly drunk night...
