    Hi Guys,

I'm getting a little ahead of myself now I know but I thought I'd start trying to save some money in case I am offered a position on the CRP in October. I'm a poor uni student and need to save save save!

Anyone got any ideas of how to save money? I thought we could all share ideas.

So far I've had a big clear out of my room and have put loads of old DVDs and stuff on ebay to sell. I also have a big money tin (which I can only get into if I use a tin opener!) that I put loose change into at the end of each day. I'll open the tin just before I (hopefully) go to Florida and change it to $$ ;D

I plan on working away the summer to pay off my uni overdraft and have some cash for when/if I get a job in Disney, so I can enjoy my time there! instead of concentrating on earning money like I did last time! That way I can take weekend trips to New York and stuff (so I can quench my thirst for musicals!)

I just try not to spend money on things I don't need, or to eat out to much. But I want to go to Disney so bad that I just don't feel like shopping or spending too much money anyway. I'd be so mad at myself if I wouldn't be able to go because I wasn't able to save up the money...

The Ebay thing is a fab idea. I've been doing that as well (so far I've made £150 lol and I've still a lot more to sell!)

Jst watch what you are spending and think before you buy! (Unless it's that top/jeans/shoes that you reeeealy need/want LOL)

Lol, I must admit it is easier to not buy stuff when I realise that it will help me to save money for Disney. I'd love to be able to take money with me so that I can go travelling and pay for hire cars etc.

Louisa - how easy is it to go on trips to NY or LA for a weekend when you're over there? Are flights expensive?

How much money do people bring on average then? :-\

Well I plan to try and save about £500, which is roughly $1000. That's just because I know I'd probably be buying lots of stuff in the first few weeks. It seemes that you don't get paid until about your second or third week of work so you'll need money to see you through until then.

Also US immigration get funny if you don't take enough to be able to support yourself when you're over there (even if you're just going on holiday - they want to see you'll have enough money).

When I go I am taking $1000.00 and as for saving, I'm just picking up extra shifts at work and making sure that I don't go shopping as much. Thinking about it I am going to start selling stuff on Ebay.

I have no idea, we never had the time to do it on my last program... I'm not sure that many airlines fly direct from Orlando to New York. I'm having trouble finding flights!

Disney usually recommends that you bring around $2-400 for the first two weeks. It was enough for me.

I had no trouble getting flights to New York to Orlando when I went... Shouldn't be to hard.

i'm applying for jobs at the moment...just to work a few off hours a week. And if i'm lucky and get one I just need to put all my will power in not spending any of the money i'm earning! Hopefully that way I can slowely climb back up from my over draft!!
The ebay thing is a great idea!! I bet if you've got the internet there'll be lots of cheap weekends away that you could book while you're over there. Espeically if you use youth hostels instead of hotels etc.

I've just applied for 3 jobs and I'm waiting to hear on a 4th.. eek I really, really need to start saving. My bank account terrifies me. It's all yo-yo-ey not good at all.

Meh. Money is silly. Shame it is *essential*

I'm going to be a recluse. Live in a buddisht monastry (yes I do realise I'm female lol) where theres no need to worry about it!

The best thing is the 'that'll be cheaper in america' thing.

When you go to buy something ask yourself if you can wait. Example, yesterday I was going to buy a new pair of work shoes to take to Florida with me. Then I thought well £60 is $120. And the make is American (Timberland) so I can probably buy four pairs if I wait. And I will wait. And I'll get a better deal haha.

Even with sale stuff. I thought I should buy stuff to take coz it was on sale. And then I thought hang on a £10 cheap jumper from a shop nobody has ever heard of... that's $20. I'd probably get an elite 'Gap' one in america for that. Haha. U see the pattern emerging...

The less u can take the better so don't spend now... spend out there ;-)

I agree with you cowza! Everything is so cheap over there! Especially now a days when the dollar is so low!

The only depressing thing is when you want to bring money back, and you realise it's not actually that much :p LOL
