Hey people i know we have lockers in our rooms, but does anyone know if there big enough to fit a laptop?
yes they are .....but u could be able to open mine with a pen ¡¡¡¡ some of them do not work properly ¡¡¡
You don't have to worry about that! Housing provide lockers, and if they don't work they fix it! As simple as that. Only thing you've got to do is tell them.
Thats cool then, im only worried because i just spent alot of money on my new computer and im rather precious about it! haha
I think I'm in trouble when it comes to this. I'm from a VERY trustworthy province and I'm really not used to locking my car doors or even my house. We have the lowest crime rates in Canada and EVERYTHING that ever happens is on the news. I'm a little worried because I really don't know how to not be as trusting as I am. It's going to be very different. I'm bringing like my Xbox 360 and buying a TV...how do you go about keeping that safe? Do I put it under my bed? I doubt that the locker is big enough to fit those things.
I never had a problem with my laptop. I lived in an 8 man apartment, and almost everyone had a laptop, and we all had them on the dining table, without anyone touching them. But then again, our apartment wasn't a "party apartment", so there were almost never "random people" around. But if you have the chance, u could always buy a "lock" to your laptop and lock it to the bed or something, cuz that way they'd have to take the bed as well I had a Dell laptop, and I was able to use a "keystone lock" for that one... I used it in college as well, it worked out great ....just lock it to something they can't bring ...The locker itself won't fit the laptop, unless you have a very small laptop...
i always just kept my laptop out on the table, even when i was at work or wasn't planning on coming home for hours. It's probably not the best thing to do, but luckily nothing happened to it!
There's no way mine would fit in a locker...I usually kept it under my bed when I was gone. Even if you just leave it in the closet with the doors closed it should be fine.
Awww I wish you could trust everyone (especially at WDW) but I guess you can't...although I'd probably end up just leaving my laptop out as well. But locking it to something sounds like a good idea if you're really worried. On a side note TraceyBrown if you're bringing your xBox we should all get together and play guitar hero sometime hahaha (if I get there soon ) I LOVE that game ;D
Tracey, just have a conversation with your roommate when you get in. I'm sure they'll understand that you don't want your tv/xbox stolen, and they probably wouldn't want it stolen either, because then they couldn't use it . I'm planning on bringing my playstation 2 with Sing Star and DDR (I'm driving, so I can bring the mats). We'll definitely have to have a games night!
Games nights sound amazing! I'm desperate for the Wii but it's a luxury I can't afford right now. I'll have one by September though, what's the likelyhood of being able to fit it in my case? Also, does anyone know if American games will work in it or if they're region specific. Because that would be inconvenient! My laptop's 11 inches so i'm assuming it'll fit seeing as it fits in my handbag! Don't want to sound naive but is crime quite common in the complexes? A part of me just wants to believe that Disney staff, people you're likely working with would steal from you! Living in London means I trust NO ONE! But back in my little town in Manchester everyone knows everyone and would call the police if they saw someone they didn't know hanging around.
My son has a laptop, several game systems, a tv and a sterio and dvd player and lots of other things (he drove down from home but also bought lots there). This time he has lived in 2 different living situations at the Commons - the first a two bedroom apartment (4 people) - with a few new roomies during the time period, his apartment was less than 50% occupied at one point so they moved him out to a one bedroom with only one other person. (they can move you if your apartment becomes 50% occupied, or less, and use your apartment for what ever they need it for ie - wellness - opposite sex). Last year when he was there he was in Chatham and in a 3 bedroom, 6 person apartment. He has never locked up his laptop and it sits out on the table. I know his game systems are sitting out now but I'm not sure if they were in the last apartment. He's always had "quiet" apartments and trusted his roomies. He's never had a problem anywhere he has lived. That doesn't mean its not happening - he knew somebody whose room-mate went home at the end of his program and took this persons game system with him to a different country. That was really sad. On the otherhand if you are really worried there is contents insurance available to you (I think through housing) which you can buy for the length of your stay and have piece of mind if something goes missing. I don't remember how much it is but it was very reasonable. My son purchased that. I have seen the lockers, I think a lot of different game systems would fit inside and most laptops. I think for most places, if you are worried, put things under your bed (like your gaming guitars) or in a drawer or your closet so they aren't totally visible to others. Don't forget - most of you will have locking luggage with you as well. You will know what type of roomies you have right after you get there. If you establish your apartment as a non-party apartment then you don't have to worry about people coming in that you don't know. If that can't/doesn't happen then it might be better to keep things out of sight, just in case. Just common sense stuff I suppose but I wouldn't worry too much until you get there and see what kind of living situation you have. You will be able to lock up most of your things. Note: (If anyone is arriving in June - my son also might have a tv -dvd player and a sterio for sale since he'll be leaving then - unless someone already there wants to buy them).
