Hi. I'm french and I was waiting for informations for the departure because I was accepted. But I received a mail which explains there are restrictions of Visas, so even if I was accepted, I don't take part in the program. Such a shame...I don't know if it's just for France or others countries, but it's a shame. I'm so cut down... I have prepared myself for this, but for nothing. I hope you won't be in the same case as me...
I am really sorry to hear that. It seems it is going around!!!!!! It is a really bad thing, but it is not Disney's fault, more the US government. Hugs!
Wow... I can't imagine how sad/angry everyone is. It'd be so disappointing..hell, I'm not even in the group and I'm disappointed. I don't really understand though, does anyone know why the visas were rejected? There are still groups over here that haven't even had their interviews yet. Hopefully you'll get the chance to do another program...
Geez...this whole Visa thing is awful, you would think that they would have planned ahead for something like that...I thought it might be just restricted to the UK (from what I have read on the boards) but it is terrible that it is actually all over the place...what I am wondering is what happens to those of us who haven't even been interviewed yet? it seems so terrible to get everyones hopes up, and then tell us that it is impossible...I just wanted to say how sorry I am, just like Meg, I am not even in your situation, and I am pretty peeved!!
Apparently this year disney have given out all the h2b visa's that they possibly could.. And were expecting to get some more for the seasonal program but the US government said there was already to many given out.. Apparently camp america took quite a few of the visa's that disney usually get..
hey Johnny, what's the difference between h2b visa's and the seasonal program visa's...where does the year long program fit into that?
i think the year long are J1 visas? h2b is he college one... I think... which is why camp america are part of the problem, it's for those who are only out for a shorter time. I suppose with the intro of seasonal work and the 6 month programs, it seems disney didn't realise what was going to happen with their visa allocation. I haven't heard too much about what's going on though, but it's truly horrible to think about and I feel so bad for those affected by it.
i shouldn't have read this it getting me worried, I'm doing the cultural rep program in Sept 11th and i hope the don't find out that i cant go because of the visa problem. does this apply with the cultural rep people even if they have been offered the job?
Oh So there shouldn't be a problem with j-1 visas? I hope not... I feel a bit relieved now...but I think it's really awful that something can't be worked out for all of the other people wanting to go down..
I don't know exactly. They told me it was just the US government who limited young international workers, I don't know why.
All i got told was that the US gov had already given out all of their H2B visas before Disney got any. Alot of the summer camp programs get them - i was looking on CCUSA and they still have spaces on thier H2B work america program. I guess the US gov gave all their visas to those organisations and had none left for Disney. Disney were clearly expecting to get quite a lot, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered interviewing so many people around the world. The only thing we can do is apply for another program - I've got an interview in November for the Cultural Rep program so I would email your Disney recruiter and see what they can offer you.
I just can not believe they would go ahead with the interviews if they didn't have the visas. I hope this never happens again. Im so sorry for everyone
I'm a bit confused with this! So I've just been offered a job, does that mean I'm OK? Or can I not get a Visa?
What program have u got the job for? The visa problem seems to be for just us Seasonal Work Program applicants as we would need a H2B Visa. See, we didn't get offered a job at all, cuz there are none if u know what I mean lol? Claire x
cos your on the summer program you will be fine! unless you have been areested for stealing alcohol from a shop , drinking it underage and being caught by the police then you might not be able to get one : :-X
I emailed Jason about it as soon as we got the bad news, and he emailed me back saying I would hear from them in October about the interview. I think those of us who passed our interviews are being given priority for the November interviews. Still gutted though.
Basically..like someone said i think..The year long one is J1 if your on the academic program..and then Q1 if your on the Cultural rep program.. If disney have already offered you a place you should be fine..because the people who this affected weren't offered a place..they were basically told they passed the interview but there was some problems getting hold of the visa's.. There's a few people who were on in the visa situation..so its best if they explain really i guess..I just know about it because one of my best mates was in the situation..
