    Hey all,

So I have a couple of completely unrelated questions for you all...

    1) In the UK Pavilion, there is the Historical Research Centre. What is it? Is this somewhere we might be given to work in?

    2) I know Disney pays for your flight home if you finish the program successfully, but do they pay for/reimburse you for your flight to Orlando at the start of the program?

    Thanks for any answers :D

Only 4 weeks 1 day till applications close! :D

I haven't worked there yet, nor would I be put in the UK pavillion, but I think I might be able to help you :)

I believe the HRC is the UK Kidcot position (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). I'm pretty sure every pavillion has a Kidcot position, but I haven't heard about how you get in one.

And your flight reimbursement comes in your last paycheck for 'the successful completion of your program.' Couldn't well give it to you in the beginning when they can't be sure that you're going to finish, now, can they? ;)

I've heard people reccommend keeping a way of proving how much you spent (they can reimburse you for up to $400) so that you get an accurate amount back.

Hopefully this answers your questions :) ... Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

    Thanks Rin :D

Haha the whole Kidcot position does seem a bit mysterious... I haven't really seen them talked about on here ever :p

Is the $400 reimbursement the same for every country? You would struggle to get a $400 flight from the UK... Not that I am complaining.... Just trying to figure out how much money to start saving :D

No, HRC is not a Kidcot position, it is an operating company. I am heading out to do HRC in March, so shout if you want any more info on it Ryan. x

hey., HRC is the Historical Research Centre and it is basicly giving guests history of their Surnames, making their own coat of arms, and giving them the choice to have this put on a mug, a plaque, a keyring etc things like that

and also Disney reimburse you for your flight out to orlando once you have succesfully completed the program. so no you dont get both ways paid for, but i know a friend who jsut finished theirs and i think they said Disney gave them around $800, but because of tax and things they only actually got around $600.

    hope this helps :)

Hey Ryan, also there are different rules in terms of wage and benefits if you work for the HRC, I sont know much about that though. Also, kidcot is a part of merch, you spend time doing activities with the kids in the shop, its not like a seperate role, its part of your job as a merch person :)

Rob is right, if your in HRC, you dont technically work for Disney! although iv heard you get your Disney pass etc, you pay your rent and things to another company i think, and like rob, im not 100% on things but there is a few differences to working in merch or F&B, HRC is a seperate company that Disney lets work in the UK pavilion, as it fits in well. lol

and yea, Kidcot is in Merch, so you wont have to do that if your in HRC :p

Thanks for all the info everyone :D It makes sense now!!

HRC doesn't really sound like something I would want to do for a year :/

Hey Charlotte... Did you have to show a special interest for it, or did you get put there by Disney?

Thanks for clearing up about the flight reimbursement Gary :D
One less flight to have to save up for :L

I tried doing a bit of research on HRC in relation to the CRP, but nothing really came up... So if anyone does find out anything please tell ;)

    Hey Ryan,

I really wanted to do it, and said so at my interview. I felt it was much more what i wanted to do than the other two roles. Also don't get hung up on the not working for disney- it really isn't as some people on here would like you to believe (I had read such nightmares from people who hadn't even done it- I went straight to the sources). The only real difference is I get less gate passes for family and friends, and I pay slightly more for accommodation (less than $10 a week), but you get paid slightly more and can work up a pay scale, which is not what I believe is the case in other merch positions. I can still put Disney on my CV, am being sponsored by Disney to be in the US, am still part of the CRP, still have to abide by all Disney rules and procedures. I will know much more when I start there on March 8th, but would be happy to chat with you here via PM if there is anything else I can help with? x
