    hiya mike,

I'm going to get a laptop I think it will definitely be worth it, for internet and to keep all my photos on it and to upload my mp3 player files. There is definitely internet access in the apartments, but I'm not sure if it is wireless. I don't quite understand all the technology of it, but I think you can connect with an ethernet cable. Don't take my word for it though, is there someone that can confirm this for us??

I'm not there yet but i'm 99.9999% sure on this.

There is internet access in your rooms, however it isn't wireless. I'm pretty sure I read there's more than one port (5?) but either way all you need is the eithernet cable and you just plug it into the wall in your living room.

A wireless router will do the trick as well as you would plug it into the wall then configure it with your laptop. If your roomates don't allready have one but they have laptops you may be able to convince them to split the costs with you.

One alternative that is suposted to be cheaper but I know nothing about is the Apple Airport.

    Airport is definetly NOT CHEAPER!!!

It costs around $160.00 Canadian tax not included, compared to a regular wireless you can buy for as cheap as $25 Canadian!!!

The Airport does integrate with your iTunes though, so if you have a cable you can hooke your stereo up in to your sound system and voila! Direct wireless send from your iTunes to your sound system, which is awesome. As well as wireless printing, (connect your printer to airport, and print from anywhere in the house).

It's worth it though if you do travel around a lot, since it's so portable, no seperate power supply... but it's definetly not a cheaper choice!

One hint, if you are a student in a post-secondary school (university, etc), check out www.apple.com, go to the bottom of the page and choose your country. (For UK and Ireland, choose Europe), go to their online store, on the side, click "education savings for students and staff", enter your information, and you can get educational discouts!
