OK I just have another quick question, I'm in the first year of doing my GCSE's and I was wondering if there are any qualifications/GCSE's you MUST DEFINITEY have to do the International Course?
If you are referring to the International Program, which is a Job and not a course as such, there are no specific requirements, I think customer service experience gets you brownie points, but your CV and cover letter are most important. I would imagine they would favour those with language skills. If you are referring to the College Program which is the summer job while you are at university, I believe the only requirement is you are enrolled on a full time course at a educational establishment, though I could be wrong. have u been on the programme before colin? ive just sent my cv off and had the email saying they'l be in touch in 8-10 weeks.. i hope my experience is enough... ive worked in retail / customer service since i was 16.... ive got a degree in education and loads of experience working with children.. ive worked abroad for 4 summers, working for greeks, dutch and americans, and worked in restaurant/hotel. i didnt go into too much detail about it all on my my cv, so really want an interview so i can tell them what ive got to offer!!
I'm hoping to o the international course when I'm 18 for my gap year. I'm tkaing French, I work at a Sunday School as a teacher assiant and am also a Youth Club Leader. But here's my problem, my school has now dropped Scienece as a lesson so we don't have to take it as a subject, I dropped it, but I'm still do Maths and English, obviously, will it matter?
I don't think that the GCSE's make much of a difference, and I don't think the science will be a problem at all, I think english is a good one, but thats obvious Customer service skills help a lot so the fact that you have to deal with people helps. TBH I personally don't think that qualifications could ever prepare you for something like this, but they show you are dedicated and organised. @princessjilly - I've been working in retail too since I was 16 and I'm due to complete my degree in the summer and I have passed the Cv/telephone interview stage and am waiting for my F2F in March. Sounds like you'd be perfect for the Job
Just to clarify, you all know this isn't a 'course' as such right? It has nothing to do with education or qualifications, and is much more about experience and the kind of person you are. Work on your cv and covering letter, those are the things which move you further on in the process.
