To all those who have done F&B before (or just happen to know!), what are the requirements for shoes? Do they have to be closed in or can they be with a strap across the top for example? I know they have to be black but that's all I know! Can they have laces?
They are apparently now supplying shoes for Food and Beverage cast members in the World Showcase... Before they just have to be all black, close toed, close heeled, they can have laces or not.
Oh really... I ask because I have to have supportive shoes when I am standing up all day or it makes my back hurt... sooo because I have a really good pair here I was going to buy a second pair of them to bring with me. Hmmm. Thanks for getting back to me tho!
if you are in F & B they DEFINITELY supply you with shoes now. I just got mine. they have a really weird sole so that their non slip so dont do what i did and bring loads of shoes out with u to last the year! u just need one other smart black pair for the business attire days
Good tip thanks, oh and applies to me as I got a date in F and B this week, aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh (sorry, still excited)
We get given shoes? Do we have to pay or are they part of costuming? I thought Yummy emailed someone recently (maybe Myah?) and told her that as far as they know we definitely have to provide our own shoes. How silly of them, thanks for the info Marianne! X
I'm so jealous you all get shoes provided now! I got some from walmart for about $20, but wasn't allowed them because they were too trainery, so then got Sketchers for $35, and got told after 6 weeks I wasn't allowed to wear them because the strap went across my foot twice, so then I ended up getting a pair of Crocs for $60 (which were ugly as sin, but lasted the rest of the year before they took a short dive into the lagoon haha)! So yeah, I returned the Walmart ones, but overall 95 bucks spent on shoes! I know people that had to replace their Crocs over the year too, so spent $120 on shoes lol.
Yeah it was me that emailed Yummy and they definitely said we had to provide our own shoes. I don't want to waste £40 here - because I would never in a million years wear the shoes outside of work - but I don't want to get there and find out they're not supplying shoes. Maybe someone could email Disney directly?
I spoke to Kayleigh who's a UK F&B Cast Member who went out a couple of weeks ago and she says that Disney provides them for you As for Merch I don't know x
merch have to bring their own smart black shoes. not sure on requirements though. they've only JUST started to provide shoes for F & B cast and basically you have to wear them because they are special non slip ones. Theyre free (part of your costume) so don't worry about that but i would suggest getting a size up and buying a good pair of insoles. i got an 8 wide when im usually a 7. i know girls who got their normal size and have been having bleeding feet etc :-(
that is new! maybe they were lenient in our day but we had to provide our own. the wallmart ones would only last a short while though before you needed to replace them, but I still have a pair I was going to use again when I got there! oh well... will have them with me anyway. it was always difficult to get comfy shoes that met the requirements... they used to always recommend the van that came to cast services though to get shoes... they must have integrated it all now.
Oh... I'm slightly dreading the concept that I'll have painful feet for a year now :S I have narrow feet so if I went up a size they'd probably fall off the back! I will definitely be investing in insoles... thanks for the info guys, at least I wont be spending money on shoes before I go then!
apparently they have a petition going around so people can wear their own if they fit in the disney look. I don't know if it'll actually do anything though...
but if you are in F & B they still need to be the special non slip ones. majority of smart black shoes aren't. That's why they've decided to provide them. theyre really not that bad - all new smart shoes take a little while to break in anyways. the pain more comes from standing on your feet in a fixed position while working.
i remember the van parked outside cast services once a week, tuesdays I think, and they used to encourage people to go there but they were more expensive than the crappy wallmart non-slips... i wonder if it's that brand they make everyone wear now....
