Hey guys, I've been accepted into the Canadian CRP and my arrival date is Feb 2nd. I heard during the interview that you can potentially get in to a tipped position at the restaurant. I'm just wondering how long it generally takes to get in a tipped position and how much you can expect to make in tips!

    Thanks alot,
    Justin

I've heard it ranges between 2 and 6 months, depending on the need for more servers and your skills. As for tips, a friend told me you can expect to make between 75 and 150 per lunch shift and 200-500 per dinner shift... if thats the actuality, we should live a comfy life! ;D

i worked in attractions but what i do know is that after 3 months you can do your spiel for the managers ( recite the menu/ wines, answer questions as if they were a guest etc) once you pass that you are put on a list. Once a food runner becomes a server (or leaves) the next person on the list takes over food running and then usually after a few weeks goes into service. Study your menu! from what I know it isn't that easy to pass the spiel, its not hard if you know your menu though.

People in service make a pretty penny for sure. try not to lord it over the poor poooor merchies and attraction workers please. lol
