So, from what im hearing its only the US CP's that get the extra .50 cents in QS F&B? And im also hearing that this isn't a very good position. Is this all true?
I think you're right about the extra 50 cents. As for not being not a very good position, I certainly hope not! I think it depends how you choose to see it. I would prefer to be working with other people, but if I do end up on a cart or something, it'll still be fun cause you'll still get to deal with lots of guests and meet people from all around the world!
I work QS F&B (although only 15 days until attractions!) and was given the Main Street Bakery and Cone Shop...and it's so much fun! (and hard work but then again so is everything at Disney!)
I think that going there to make money is not the best attitude to live that experience... ...as far as I know people who work at restaurants make more money.. but they work more hours and their work is quite tough too!! So merch is not "a bad position"... (..I'm going there to work in the Italian Pavillon as merchandiser...) ...just enjoy the positive sides of it and ignore negatives ones!!! You're gonna have much more fun!!! ;D ;D
Ya, I'd hafta agree with that. At the beginning, I was kinda thinking about how much money I could save, but then quickly realized my error and now, as long as I don't have any debt coming out of it, it's all good! ;D And again, you can decide whether its a good position or not, if you make the best of it, then you'll have loads of fun! If you're constantly complaining then you'll probably think it stinks. (Totally not implying either circumstance, just stating the extremes of the possibilities). Think of it this way, you'll be in Disney World! Not much more matters!
You're perfectly right!!!!! I'd like to save "some money" too but I'm also going there to get the chance to have a career inside DisneyWorld.. ..that's would be the perfect job for me...I'd like to move to the States too!!! Can't wait for my dream to start!!!
That's awesome Alex! I would like to have a career with Disney too! What do you want to do there if you don't mind my asking?
Well... ...honestly I'd like to do ANYTHING!!! Seriously.. Disney it's a big big part of who I am... ...so why not stay there as long as possible?? I think that if you train, study and you're lucky there's the chance to have more responsibilities, become manager ans stuff like that... ...I'm going to graduate in Economics, so I'd like to do that kind of job.... It's not easy to remain there more than 1 year because of Visa problems etc but it's not impossible, so I'll do everything it will take to make it my life job!! ;D
Cool! Best wishes with that! I'm sure this quote certainly fits the occasion... "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them" - Walt Disney
Yes... ...it perfectly fits... If Walt is right maybe someone will really have the chance to stand out and be reaaally successful!!! Keep your fingers crossed!
It's basically because they have alot of QSF&B positions to fill and it's generally not alot of folks (regular CMS or CP/ICPs) first choice. Hence, Disney offer a slightly higher rate of pay to encourage more folks to take up those positions. At least, that is how I understand it. Ona x
aaaahhh that's why I put merchandise at first and F&B 2nd still dont know which one ist going to be :-\ which one is nicer to work at F&B or Merch???
Kristol, that's totally down to personal preference and work location. I prefer merch (bear in mind I have never been a QSF&B CM however) for a number of reasons. The main one being the high level of guest contact. Your job is to talk to and interact with guests. That can be alot more difficult to do in QSF&B. But again, that will totally depend on which QSF&B loction you are assigned. As has been mentioned, if you were working in Cosmic Rays (one of, if not the largest QSF&B location in WDW) it'd basically be like working in a giant crazy McDonalds. I'm sure there's magic there but it's probably not as obvious is it may be as in say the Wolrd of Disney (the lasrgest Disney merch location). On the other hand, you could be running your own icecream cart outside Cinderella Castle; dancing along to the Share a Dream Come True Parade. It also depends on you. I am as far from being a foodie as it is possible to be. Seriously, I'd rather clean a toilet than do the dishes (I have issues, I know : ;D). So if you are interested in hospitality or food in anyway, perhaps QSF&B would be far more appealing. Ona x
Operations is anything to do with the attractions. So it could be operating an attraction like Space Mountain, working the fastpass tickets, getting people seated for shows like Beauty and the Beast or Lights, Motors action... I wish I had picked it over F&B.
