So... does anyone know how much of our pay we lose because of taxes?
And after taxes and the rent are paid, how much do we have left to spend on food and fun?
oh yeah almost forgot. How much can we expect to earn a month? I want to work in F&B so I'm interested in knowing both waitress- and kitchen monthly pay.

    Thanks
    Christina

Not sure how much on taxes is spent but my average pay check would be about 110-130 dollars a week after rent
    which isnt to bad
if u take some money with u before u go out there then it shud be ok

yeh jus bring a big wod of cash with ya n u shud be fine, rent depends on the size of ur apartment really cos theres 1 bedroom upto 4, so everyones rent is different and the first couple pay cheques are shite lol, i jus cnt wait to get proper pay next wk! but wen u go into service in f&b ul be on quite a bit of money so its all good x

is it ture that if you work with food where there is tips, you earn less wage wise, because you get those tips?? and if so, is it worth it to go into food?

If you're working in a tipped position it means you're working at a full service restaurant which is probably really nice.... so your tips will probably be pretty good. You get paid roughly $4 less an hour in a tipped position, so if you make $5 in tips in an hour (which is almost nothing if you're serving a lot of people) you'll be making more money. At least thats what I think. I've heard you make a lot more in tipped positions, but you have to work your way up to them.

Yeah, even though the pay is less as a server, you earn a lot more because of the tips.
