Kay, so I just saw it....and I am torn... I think I LOVED it (mostly because of Johnny and Keith Richards!)....but the story was REALLY long and confusing....so I am wondering what others thought? I figure its very disney related, and will fit right in here (considering we all have/had a special tie to the Walt Disney Company)...
I liked it. I thought the last 2/3rds of it was GREAT and the first third was pretty meh (although I LOVED the reference to the DL PotC ride! in the first 3rd. more about this under spoilers below about this) I thought it was a good conclusion to the story but the worst of the 3 movies SPOILERS It's a Disneyland reference because right before they go over the waterfall Barbossa quotes Jolly Roger (a skull above the waterfall drop in DL) then they go down the waterfall drop and ride clips all happen at once
I totally agree wth you Jorden....the last bit made up for the length of the thing....and the ride reference was REALLY cool....I feel like I was one of the only ones in the theatre who got it though...too bad! and Jennifer...Keith wasn't in it a huge amount....but the few minutes that he was was well worth it!!! and the conversations between Johnny and Ketih were really well done!!
Did you stay after the credits? It was well worth it this time (versus DMCs 15 seconds with a quick laugh at the end)
really...No! the theatre I was in was like a prison...they kicked everyone out! and before the show they told everyone that had a turned on cell phone or Ipod was going to be kicked out of the show and not reimbursed....they even checked bags and purses...and had guards patrolling the theatre for the whole show...it was intense! I am going again next week (sad I know) with some friends who couldn't come yesterday...so I'll be sure to stay this time!
I've been twice and I thought it was great! (agree with you jordan - excellent reference to DL POTC! Made up for the long- and confusedness!) Will probably go again soon
Arrr it kicked ass! But I found the plot reeeally hard to follow though, was hard remembering who was on what side/where they wanted to go/who they wanted to kill I could have easily watched a whole 2 and a half hours of just Johnny Depp acting solo.
oooo as an after thought one of the highlights was seeing the trailer for the new pixar film, which looks brilliant xx
yeah, i loved it, i actually work in a cinema at the moment, so i got to see it a couple of days before it was released. Yeah, it was a bit confussing in parts, but i thought there were a great fighting battle at the end, i think the first one was the best one, but this one is better than the second one.
I didn't find it all that confusing (althought at some parts it was tough to figure out where the alliances were), but I watched Dead Mans Chest 24 hours before going to worlds end which probably helped
yeah i did that too actually, I ordered dead mans chest of play.com, and it came the on the morning, so i watched that straight away then saw worlds end that night, good timing i guess 8)
Towards the end I got slightly overloaded and confused, but otherwise loved it. Lots of Johnny Depps= very happy Amy! (Plus this is the first time they've had him topless isn't it? I was wondering why I'd never noticed the tattoos on his back before, then realised). Wish I'd read the note about staying for after the credits before though SPOILER: Although does anyone else not find it slightly wrong that Calypson turned into lots of crabs. I mean, it could have been anything, but CRABS?!
I absolutely loved it... I've seen it twice.. I hope everyone stayed until the end of the credits to see the last scene.. Jack Sparrow was his amazing self and with Barbossa in toe it made for a great film
for the spoiler.. the one thing I noticed was when they went over the falls and when everything is pitch black you hear the moaning of the pirates and it's a direct audio sample from all the pirates rides at the bottom of the drop in them. loved it. immediately recognised what I was hearing! I loved the movie. The second one sucked. the beginning of the third wasn't exactly illuminating. once jack was in it things got cooking. And you can't go wrong with multiple jack sparrows. some great dialogue and not just a rehash of the first movie's dialogue (which is what dead man's chest was) and yeah, the fight scenes weren't too long either (like DMC was). I was a little upset by the deaths but realised they had to happen. this universe isn't all happy endings. I liked the full circle for Captain Jack too. You could watch all three movies round and round and round in circles now
definately agree linsey.. I absolutely loved "dead men tell no tales" it was a great idea to put that in.. I can see why a lot of people didn't like DMC but i didn't think it was to bad... It had a lot to live up to after CotBP and the middle of a trilogy is usually the slow part
I loved the movie so much ... even the soundtrack(which i borrowed from my friend) although i sat beside a nasty person and got coughed on sneezed on elbowed kicked had to arm rest left and she moved around so much the my chair in fact seldom remained stationary .... its a miracle she didn't cause me to get sea sick
