    Hiya all,

    first post in this forum!

I am considering applying for the cultural rep programme (i am from the UK), but after reading some posts around here i've seen it mentioned that there is a new international postgrad programme open to recent graduates. Can anyone please give me some information on this, or a link? I can seem to find it on the disney site.

Thanks for any help, and no doubt i'll have more questions if i do decide to apply!

    hi claire,

Im new round here too but have been lurking for a few months now so can hopefully give you some info!

the new grad scheme is up and running, but isn't an 'official' disney one so you won't find it explicitly on their website. it is a specially set-up college programme run in combination with the Uni of cen. florida. yummy jobs can give you more info as they are UK liason. the scheme involves working 5 days a week at disney (like the other programmes), and 1 day at uni taking classes in hospitality management.
the plus side i guess is that you can get to work in a wider range of areas than the cultural rep. scheme, you only have to go for 6months (if ur not up for 12 months) and you get a qualification from an american uni out of it.

the downside is that it costs a grand tuition fees.

from what i gather, they are hoping to send newbies out in jan, july and oct next year, but u may be too late for the jan one. I'm hoping to go in jul/oct!

    Hi all!

Thought I'd add to the newbie count for today.

It sounds like I'm in a similar position as the two of you. The post-grad scheme which jimbob mentions sounds very interesting, did you speak to yummyjobs for info? I couldn't see anything on their website at all, although I do remember reading something about it a while back, most probably on here.
I was just about to fire an email off to yummy about cultural rep. programme, so I might hold back a tad longer and consider my options.

    Hi everyone

I'm going out on this programme on 20th January! This programme is better suited to those who want to advance their career options in the future (especially in a hospitality/tourism/entertainment setting).

You do have to pay tuition fees but like with any other course you graduate and get a qualification at the end (Hospitality Management in this case). There are lots of different classes on offer from event management to customer analysis to wine testing... I think you choose around 6 out of 12 or so. There is no homework or exams... you are just expected to apply your knowledge to your job role.

It's six months like someone else said and you have the option to work in any of the parks or hotels with a big variety of roles to choose from.

You have to be a recent graduate (any discipline) to apply (2006/2007) or if you are doing a degree in hospitality or tourism it is possible to do this programme as part of your degree.

I think this programme is listed on the disney international programme website. I think it's existed a while but they've changed it recently to allow graduates to do it.

    Ben
