Finally managed to get the ball rolling with International Services. It looks as though my departure date will be March at the earliest however. : At the moment, the only thing I am allowed to start on is the Police Report. However, the only info. International Services have sent says nothing other than that I need a background check carried out. : So I'm trying to remember what I did for the IP and I can't for the life of me, think. Being a teacher in Scotland I had to have a Disclosure Scotland carried out. Is this the same thing as the police check? Any help would be much appreciated. ??? Ona
Ring your local cop shop - you don't need enhanced disclosure (like when you work with children in schools) just a regular background check is sufficient - think it costs about £10 Hope this helps?!Â
Ona, Disney told me to contact a guy called Mark at Excellent Entertainment and he sent me a form for the background check. It costs more, I think around £45. I asked Disney if I could get one from my local police station and they said that would be ok but it can take around 4-6 weeks to get a reply whereas the more expensive one gets done much quicker and the guy at Excellent Entertainment sends it to Disney for you. You can e-mail them at theagency@excellententertainment.biz and the website is www.excellententertainment.biz. I think the cruise line use them for recruiting entertainment and technicians, etc! Let me know when you're going to get your medical done. I'm not 100% sure I'm going back yet but could be so if I am I would be looking to do it next month some time. Unfortunately they only use a doctor in London now (I had mine done in Leeds before!) or else you could have it done up here but have to pay for it upfront! Good luck with things! Take care, Laura. ;D
bloody hell Laura D!! 45 quid!?!? mine for the ship cost about 10 quid - was told it'd take 4 weeks but only took 2. Disney reimburse you for it though don't they? so I guess it doesn't matter! (heck if Disney pay get the expensive full CRB check!!! ;D)
Thanks guys. It's so strange. Mark at Excellent Entertainment is the contact on dcljobs.com. When the contact changed from International Services, I recieved an email from them teling me to contact Excellent Entertainment. But I never got any response from them what-so-ever. : So I kept calling International Services. Obviously, eventually I got an interview etc. but I now don't get why International Services is dealing with us? ??? So confused by it all. : Never mind. ;D I'll contact Excellent Entertainment today. Laura, I can't start on the medical yet. Or at least that's what France have told me. :-\ They haven't actually even mentioned to me that I need a medical, or anything about the visa etc. The only reason I know about any of this is from you guys. In fact, we haven't even recieved any kind of formal acceptance letter or anything. It all seems rather disorganised. But then I guess I'm not surprised considering how hard it was to even apply. : ;D Ona
Ona - that really is disorganised Seems no one is helping you at all in this recruitment process are they?! just keep pestering them until you got a visa in your passport and a date to leave!
Oh my God. What a difference! I contacted Excellent Entertainment and they are soooooooo helpful. Thanks for the tip Laura. I actually feel like I am getting somewhere. : Especially compared to my experience with IS. : Don't worry soleil plage, I'm already on it. ;D Patricia at International Services actually said to Clappy (the other ex-merchie waiting) "There's another girl who keeps calling like you!" i.e. another person pestering her. ;D Ona
Haha @Ona...you go girl!!! Being persistant is the key!!!! I don't know how many bad agencies and recruitment people I went through in my life so far, that is probably why I want to get into recruitment after the program I am currently on. Julia
