Hey, I have been reading around this website and found a few people who like me are starting to plan applying to disney in three-four years! I'm 15 years old and will be applying to go around 2013.. I have to start early because I need to start to think about raising the money etc.. I recently wrote a post asking advice but this post is for people like me who are planning ridiculously early... It would be nice to know I'm not a little silly for this! Becx
hello there think its really cool that you are exited about working at Disney and im sure you will at some point end up over there living the dream but i would say that perhaps at 15 you are a little far away from realistically being able to plan for this, you cant apply until your 17 and you wouldnt be able to go over until you turn 18 soooo its a long ways away for you yet hunni. i would go out and enjoy yourself and worry about the world of work and jobs and all of this until much nearer the time, the application process for these programs is soooo long-winded in itself that trying to plan for it it 3 years in advance is going to drive you totally crazy!!!! maybe you could get a part time/after school job now (if you dont have one already) and start to build up some work experience from that which in time will help your application for Disney and of course any other job you may wish to apply for when you are older? I really wouldnt start worrying now about saving the money to go to work at disney! your only 15, so young! you shouldnt be worrying about money now sweetie, you have your whole adult life to stress about money, enjoy your freedom from all of that while you can!!!! the disney programs will still be around when you are old enough to take part and of course you can apply for them at any age after you are past the age of 18 so you dont need to worry about missing out on them. Good luck and im sure in the future you will be a great cast member!
Hey - gotta disagree with that. I planned about 19 yrs in advance to send my son to the German pavillion (before he was even a thought). He's leaving Aug. 16. It's perfectly ok to plan ahead especially since you will need to take funding with you AND because the competition is so fierce amongst the Anglo-Saxons (Canada, GB). The Germans definitely have the advantage there. I planned 5 yrs in advance to leave Detroit (age 13) and ended up going to Germany. Some things are best thought out in due time. Good luck to you and stay excited!
maybe if all you ever want to do in life is go and work for 1 year at WDW then maybe.... but as we all know there is life before and after you complete your 12 months out there!!!! I was simply saying that for a young 15 year old to be putting her heart and soul into this now, 3 years before she can even send in her application is perhaps a little over keen, i would be saying the same thing regarding any job! in time she may not even want to apply when she does turn 18 or life my put her onto another path all together, its far too soon for her (or anyone) to be trying to plan spending money etc for a job that for her at this point doesnt even exist! you should live your life for each day as it comes, not worrying and planning for something way ahead in your (possible) future.... that would be like me, at 27, saying "well, i need to start planning and saving for my wedding because i may want to get married in 3 years time" before i have even found a man i want to marry....
Its good to hear your opinions! You all have very good points and its not quite something I'm getting stressed over just yet just enjoying the idea! Your all definautly right, I could turn 18 and laugh about how silly I was but being only 15 I'm still a kid! It's a dream, it could happen, it might not. I've just got back from Disney and longed for a way back.. looking into things for the future is my way back. I'm defo going to go out and forget about this for a while! You guys seem to thinks its quite a sensible idea ! I'm going to go out and start picking up experience for life not just for Disney and when it comes that time maybe I'll apply maybe I won't! I've looked into it now to ensure that if I decide to apply I have the money.. something that doesnt really come too readily in my family. Thanks you guys, its nice to hear both sides of the story and its good to look forward and aim for something but its best that I don't get too caught up and stress over something a while in the future! I got three years to live yet! Three years that are potentially quite big years! Getting out of school and going into college! But in the future, i hope I get there! I'm gonna dream because that's all there is to do but when I get the opportunity.. I can go and I'm not being held back my anything ! Thanks!
Although I'm all for early planning, I wouldn't worry about saving money for it yet. By all means keep it in the back of your mind that you're going to be applying, but with the amount of time from the beginning of the application process to when you'd actually go out there, you should have plenty of time to save. I'd say the best way to prepare at the moment would be to get a part time job in a shop or a restaurant so you can put it on your CV when it comes to applying.
Hey, I started planning when I was 9 yrs old when my auntie worked in the UK pavilion - I have just had my final interview face to face with the recruitment team here in the UK and find out in 10 days weather I get to start this dream or not. Its a long app process but if thats what your dream is then dream all the way, dont give up xx
Hahaha... I really do want to get there, I suppose its all about different people! Sometimes planning early is ridiculous and me planning this early maybe is but I want to work in Disney and have done since I first went! Good luck with everything and I hope you get to go.. if not I'm sure you will sometime in the future! Best of luck !!
Dont feel silly hun im only 15 and ive been lookin into this for years, i even wrote a poem in grade 6 about it . Definately don freak out about this. I personally feel it is great at motivating me to do things that will improve my resume. anyways good luck and dont worry ur not the only one.
I've been dreaming to go for a while.. its only recently I've found that it was actually possible.. I definatly agree I too think the idea is very motivating! Its also nice to hear about people my own age.. I know many of my family and friends find it something that is unlikely to happen but I'll be ready to prove them wrong ! Thanks to hear from you... its nice knowing your not on your own.
Hahaha... I can see where there coming from but it will just make it even more fun when I get to prove them wrong! Teehee
I wanted to work at WDW since age 12 when i went for the 2nd time I found out about the CRP/ICP when i was 13 and just knew i had to do it! Now i'm 17 i'm now starting to think about it and plan, and will hopefully be ding the smmer ICP in 2014!
"Its good to hear your opinions! You all have very good points and its not quite something I'm getting stressed over just yet just enjoying the idea! A very wise man once said "If you can dream it, you can do it" So it's not a case of it might not happen but when it will happen ! Good luck for your future at WDW kiddo :3
I discovered this forum when I was 15 too! Although I didn't actually post on here for a good few years, I kept it in the back of my mind and used it to research all the different programmes there were. By the time I was 18 I had decided that uni had to come first, but that still gave me the chance to do the ICP when I was 20, and now I'm 22 I'm graduating and applying for the CRP! So although it's all so exciting when you're young, I remember the feeling exactly, it's never going to be too late! xxxx
Don't worry, planning early is great. You have so much longer to look forward to the whole experience. I knew that I was going to do this when I was 11 and I found the forum when I was 13 or 14. Back then I was strongly reprimanded by people in my nation's group. But there is nothing wrong with enthusiasm! Enjoy the rest of your time in your country and look forward to your adventure after! Good luck! Lots of love Gini
Hiya, I am also someone who has planned in advance. I am 17 now and turn 18 later this year, i have been waiting since i was 15/16 to apply. I am so excited about applying. I cannot stop thinking and talking about the CRP, my family must be sick of me haha! You definitely aren't silly for planning so in advance. It is something to look forward to and yes, it motivates you to go out and get some experiences for your CV which is brill. It's nice to read everyone getting excited and being able to talk about it ;D
Hi Becx! A few weeks ago I found an e-mail I sent to Disney Recruits when I was 13. I basically said exactly the same as you; I know im very young but I want to plan early because its something I really really really want to do! I remember my parents thinking it was a little silly but I didn't listen I went to WDW for the first time when I was 6 and I knew then, that was the job for me! Im now 19 and applying for the CRP, going to the pre-selection interviews on the 26th! You may change your mind in the next few years but if it really means a lot to you (like it did to me!) be patient and your application date will be here before you know it! Stacey xxxx
Hey Stacey, Best of luck and I really hope that you get to Disney World! Its nice to hear of people who had the same dream as me from a young age who are now into the selection process. It offers a little hope when your dream seems so far off and unlikely at times. Once again, wishing you the best of luck! You deserve to be there. Beckii Xxxx
Hi all. I will be apply for the CRP when the program opens again early next year. I am so excited and so happy i found this forum as i can talk and post about it as much as i like. I have been to DW 8 times as my family are in love with it!!! It would be great if all of our dreams come true and we all got to work for Disney. The best of luck to everyone who is applying or has just applied Aimee
