Hey S'up y'all... hehehe... Just wondered... does anyone here collect Disney Pins??? I'll defo be taking mine with me (if I get thru) ;D
I've got over a hundred pins now in 2 pin cases, I colllect mostly Park pins I guess, i have a few character pins and lots of stitch pins, I tend to purchase any LE pins I can get my hands on unless they really are UGLY.... Colin
Cooooool Colin. I guess I've only just started the last couple of years. I kinda like cast member ones that are hard to come by. But I know what you mean about Stitch... He's just soooooo cute! At home, we still do the 'stitch voice' (from the ride) saying 'did ya miss me'.. cracks me up every time!! I must only have about 30... which is no way near as many as you... well... not yet anyway!! I recently bought a new lanyard on my annual pilgrimage to WDW in florida, I got my nameon it... which is kinda cool but I guess everyone's doing that now! Well... off to check ebay for any LE Cast member pins I aint got! Hakuna Matata, Will.
Weird, I always think of my collection as small. I know people with thousands lol I can only think of one CM pin I have, which is a Giant one of the paris castle (which incidentally is my favourite castle by far!) http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=25754&sid=1518.1130426388 I love it, probably my favourite Colin
How cool is that! If there's to be a preference, I usually go for pluto or stich, but mickey wins without a doubt! I'll have a look for some links to let ya see em...
I don't have any as never been to any of the parks before :'( but if i get in it will be a hobby i will take up for sure ;D
How much do you guys find it costs? I have bought quite a few, but only for attractions i really like, and havent got into any of the trading. I find at $6 a pin sometimes it is pretty steep! - Still, atleast the money is being spent on something awesome!! J x
It all depends on which one's you go for I guess... But if ya keep an eye out for them on eBay you can get some pretty good ones... Limited Edition or others. Hey Jess... CAST MEMBERS get given some to wear on their own lanyard... Meant to be to trade with Guests, a good form of interacting with people... So you can build up quite a collection. You're not meant to but I know alot of Cast that keep the real good ones to themselves as they collect them too. (Ur lanyard can get quite heavy too!!!!) I tend to keep the special one's ie. Attractions I like or Limited Edition one just on their cards. Incidentally... for those of you who dont collect yet... Keep all the Pin Trading Cards that they come on. They're worth more that way!! Just a little tip!!! Yeah, I agree... It's BIG BUCKS if you're an avid collector... But you'll probably just develop your specific taste on certain ones and just keep your lanyard for trading with guests.
There were a load on ebay for 1 and two cents (US dollars) when I looked earlier. I was very tempted. There were even a few "Disney Salutes : [Cast Member Role such as Attractions/Custodial/Merchandise here]" pins which were REALLY cool! Is that for definate about the CMs getting pins? What I was intending to do (if I get in, that is!) was to have two collections. One collection, I'd have out there with me in Florida. These'd be the ones that I'd allow myself to trade with guests-so wouldn't get attached to. If I saw a nice one I wanted, I'd take it off the lanyard, buy another "whatever" one for the lanyard and keep the pin for the other collection-what I have now-back home. The one I have now has only a few on it. But they're pins that I really wanted and look great... So it's more quality than quantity. The idea of pin trading really appeals to me and I'd recommend everyone to get involved-especially if Disney gives 'em to CMs free! You never know who you might meet! KC
Yeah it's a cool idea started way back for Guests to interact with the Cast (and of course a pretty good sales and marketing venture) There are thousands out there... I've often seen the 'serious' collectors out and about when I've been there with huge carry case wallets full of these charming little gems... I still think that the Disney Stores in the UK should stock them - but they dont Yep I agree... you can get some real bargains on eBay when it comes to Disney Pins... the hardest thng I find is 'self control', not getting too carried away shopping/bidding... especially if it's one you really want. Some people are willing to spend an absolute fortune for a single pin. Mind you, if it's a rare one... then who can blame them! I don't really drink beer much... Only on social occassions really, I don't smoke, so I have to spend my money on something, so pins is my kinda thing I guess now. Oh and yeah... good idea about the two collection thing... I guess as long as you keep the same amount of pins as you get given then cool! I think they even give you your own personalised lanyard too - wooo hooooo!
Here's a link if you wanna go straight through to check eBay Disney Pins up for auction... http://collectables.listings.ebay.co.uk/Disneyana_W0QQfromZR4QQsacatZ137QQsocmdZListingItemList Enjoy folks! Hakuna Matata!! ;D
Just wait until you see some of the pin freaks out there!!! Grown men with strollers full of pin books...piled in the seat, the basket on the roof...no kid in sight. It's slightly ridiculous actually when it gets to that!!!! Wearing the lanyards at work is a bit of a pain actually...unless you like having it used as a leash and being groped by the creepy pin freaks. Shan
Hehehe... Talking of eBay... Just click on the following link and then CLICK PLAY from the PICTURE top centre... a funny song indeed. (OK it's still kinda related to this topic!) http://www.geoffellis.com/ebay.html Enjoy!
Oh lord nightmares of pin sharks! I definately don't miss those lanyards! Yes, pins cost guests $6.95 each or even more. However, there are pin events all the time and you can purchase grab bags of random pins really, really cheap there. It doesn't matter what's in them because you take them to the parks on your days off and become one of the pin traders we all detest. "Hey, can I trade you my freebee Kodak 2004 pin that 50,000 other guests have already traded you for your really cool Cast Lanyard Series?" Grrrrrr....
___ ___ ___ @ Linda-o-binda   OOOOH GOSH! Well I guess there's a down side to everythng... But I still think it's a cool idea! I'm no 'anorak' believe me... but there are some pins that are really cool... 8) although I wouldn't go chasing people around for them! Personally, I've been in Hospitality Management for the past 13 years (lucky 13? ??? ) and I just love interacting with all different types of guests, albeit some of them can seem kinda strange, :-[ but hey, everyone's different I guess! Afterall, it could be worse... instead of collecting Disney pins, they could be into something much 'darker' or illegal even, so I tend not to knock them... Well, not too much anyway! Hakuna Matata Folks! :-* Will
