Has anybody heard about Pin Trading?

I was looking through a guide book the other day and it mentioned that guests can ask castmembers to trade any pins that they're wearing on their costumes...

Does anybody know if we buy these pins, or are we given a few to start with ~ I'm not really sure I like the idea of trading a pin that I bought because I really liked it!

Ahhh well...maybe I'll end up with a better one ~ or just not wear any at all!

    Easy,

if you bought a pin and you like it a lot, don't wear it while on stage :p

In Merch, we had to wear lanyards on stage. Then guests could come up and trade us a disney pin for one of the ones on the lanyard. It was fun sometimes, but got really annoying when people would grab your lanyard and drag you around by it!! People feel that they can just grab you...and sometimes they miss the lanyard and do!!! You will see the same people that come week after week...we called them Pin Freaks and try to take all your good pins, so we'd hide them sometimes.

You can't wear pins on your costume (unless it is a special disney approved one, which you can't trade anyways) so you don't have to worry about people wanting yours.

This is a lanyard. You get one from Disney and stick pins on it for then to trade. I remember I hated it. It had NOTHING to do with being a cultural representative.

now we're talking! I love pin trading I usually go lining up to buy the special limited ones early in the morning! then if I buy some spares I go and trade them for ones I haven't got with the pro's that wait outside the stores. it's really cool! I can't wait to be able to buy all the cast member specials. I've managed to get a few by buying them on ebay and trading with cast members.
I remember one time we saw this guy walk by that had some great pins on his landyard so I ran after him and asked him if we could trade, only in horror to find that this guy was not a cast member (he had no badge!) :-[ , me and my mum were just saying sorry a lot for stopping him! but he then said that he is a cast member but just on his day off! he must have had that disney cast member walk! lol oh and we did trade a pin with him so it was cool in the end!

I have spent so much money on those pins. I have like 40 of them in my room on a special Disney cork board.

Any one ever go to the pin trading station in Downtown Disney? That place is crazy with people who have thousands of dollars worth of pins.
