when you get to disney do you set up a bank account there to get paid in? whether you're in icp or crp or does it differ for both?
Hey You have to have a US bank account for your wages to be paid into. You can do this with any bank you like, but the disney bank come in on your second day of orientation, give you a presentation about the bank and its features and then pass around some info packs and forms to fill in if you would like to open an account. They also give you the option to sign up for direct deposit so your pay goes directly into the account once set up & the opportunity to set up a saver account where (the minimum amount) is $5 can be put into a savers account every week and this can be increased at your discretion. You sign the form, give it back and they set the account up in the next two weeks sending you the card and the pin code in the post. The account will be live after about three weeks and your money will be paid directly into you account every thursday. The first two weeks wages will be paid via cheque that can be cashed at different locations or put into your account by taking it to the branch at the Disney University once the account is opened. Hope that helps! xx
What sort of fees are included in this bank? I set up an account from home with rbc centura. The own all the presto! bank machines and have banks in all publixs
I think there was a $5 fee to set it up - but that comes straight out of your first paycheck so you don't notice it. Free to have your pay deposited into account Free to take money out at any Partners cash machine, which are at all housing complex's $2 fee is applied to take money out of another cash machine xx
Hey Vicki, I start on June 24th, do you suggest I just wait and use the Disney banking that they'll offer me on my 2nd day, or should I research and maybe go through the motions of starting a bank account on my own? Your advice? Thanks, Crazy Canadian Jen
Well to start an American account they needed to see our passports and other official documents, so unless you are in the states with all this I wouldn't bother doing anything. I had looked into opening a bank with SunTrust before I came out, but it was just soo much easier to open the partners bank, and the branches are on the bus routes etc Is totally up to you though, as for the charges, these are applied to pretty much all cards that are opened. xx
Jen check out Royal Bank. Say you want to open an american account. They have almost 1000 bank machines in the Florida Area. I had no problem and they have awesome service http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/usbanking/index.html If you want to have a look at it It didn't take long. Just call Royal Bank and make an appointment and explain your situation! It's awesome because if your parents want to give you any money they can just deposit into your Canadian Account and you can transfer it to your american account online from where ever you are at no charge.
If you dont have an account already, suntrust's free checking acct is pretty good.. but dont go overdrawn!
