Hello. My passport Expires on january 2006,Is this going to be a problem I leave on may 31st and return August 26th. Thanx Nat ;D
um dont see it being a problem as long as youre gonna be home before it expires! but email them and ask, just to be sure. i think it has to be a certain nuber of months between arriving home and it expiring. youre best to check so nothing can go wrong! xxxxx
We were told that we needed 6 months on our passport after we leave but someone i was at the embassy with had a passport that expires in may next year and out visa expires next april. The best bet would be to call the passport office and see what they say, or maybe the embassy - although its very expensive call to the embassy though!!!
Hey Gals. Hye Nat: The girls are rite, I do recall telling us that the passport must be valid for at least 6 months after ur ending date. I think u will have to renew it. See ya Robb ;D
oh man that could be a problem for me. It costs so much to get a new passport these days its ridiculous!
yah thanx for ur help evryone. ;D Its so stressful.I dont want anything to go wrong. I have my interview at the Us embassy on 23rd march.so if i need a new passport gotta fill out forms again and pay extra so My passport can be renewed quicker than usual .As i need it for interview. Yeah I spent over £6.00 trying to ring and I got not answer. then spent £12.00 to book a apointment.(I disnt ask about passport,wainting for reply from yummyjobs) thanx natxxxxx
For US immigration, you have to have a valid passport for 6 months after you leave the US so you will need to go and get a new one. It doesn't matter how you enter the US its to do with the main policy so even on a tourist waver visa you have to have a valid passport for 6 months after your return date. Also you need to get it before your visa interview because they have to place your visa in your new passport (it goes in on one of the sheets and is permenantly in there). Guess its going to be a bit more expensive for you.

OK obviously the rules have changed since 2003 then because I was told we had to. Very confusing! Never mind at least it means less money for you to pay out! ;D
I was told the same in 2003 Gismo! And id read it for this time too im sure but maybe its six months after u arrive... in which case Tinkerbell would have more than enough time... xxx
yeah its all major confusing. It says on welcome book 18 months min then it says 6 months then just for duration of stay. oh well,as no one experiences problems !!!! thanx xxx
I think the 18 months thing is because usually you have a 12 month contract and then that would be 6 months after (the book is made for IP program rather than the college one I think)
It is all so confusing!! At least you got your answer now so thats one less thing to worry about!!! The rules seem to change daily!!! Who knows whats going on!!!! Those calls to the embassy are crazy arnt they - they cost so much!!! I tried to be as brief as poss when i had to call them !!! Lol!!!
