Hey guys, a little bit short notice as I am leaving in 2 days to come out there...

How much stuff did you take out with you? Ive seen some pics on current crp's facebooks with 2/3 suitcase in them...do ppl actually take that much stuff?! Or is one of the cases only half full so that you have room to bring stuff back?

Those that did take that much have you needed it all? Would you recommend I get on to the airline and book a 2nd bag?

Sorry for all the Q's ppl but I am seriously panicking about this now! I feel so unprepared...any help greatly appreciated! Xx

    Hey,
I haven't been to Disney yet, but I've worked in States before, so I thought I'll let you know what I'll do...try to pack the least amount of clothes possible, especially if you like to shop. I, for example, need about one trip to an outlet mall to have a completely new wardrobe ;D
I would not, under no circumstances, book a second bag. No matter if you like to shop or not, you WILL buy stuff and then you'll need to take it home with you. Then you can always buy a cheap bag and take a second bag on your return flight.
You that advice: Put everything you think you need on a bed and then take half that amount.
I hope I could help you a bit & see you there in about a month! :D

I am going to Disney myself on October 19th, and what i am going to pack two bags (max limit at the airline company) full of summer clothes, and a few sweaters and a jacket.
All of this is of course added when i have packed the most important stuff (http://www.wdwip.com/wiki/Packing_Checklist)

id say to take less than you think your gunna need....... theres so many shops over there selling summer clothes etc that you dont need to take loads of stuff with you, just make sure you have the basics and take some cash to get the rest when you arrive, you can get all your hot weather stuff in orlando at a fraction of the price you would pay at home!

Don't bring just summer clothes! lol. Sorry to sound dramatic, but I got here in March and it was cold. Not like the UK, granted, but jeans and a coat type weather. Aparantly in Jan/Feb it was freezing. Everyone had their big winter coats (which are so snuggly warm) from costuming and hand warmers. If you bring 2 bags full of summer clothes you'll just end up spending a fortune buying a load of winter stuff.

I brought one suitcase and my hand luggage bag and it's fine. I tend to wear the same stuff all the time at home anyway...so I just brought that. Bring a selection of summer stuff, a couple of jumpers and jackets, going out stuff, a couple of things for traditions and you'll be grand. I'd say for a tip on light packing bring kind of generic stuff...like a denim skirt or plain white top...then you wont notice so much if you wear it all the time as most people have about 4 of them in their wardrobe anyway lol.

Like someone else said, you will buy stuff out here (even if the clothes shopping is a bit crap round here) and plus, a lot of the time you're gonna be in your costume anyway lol. Hope this helps a wee bit :) Will see you at your throw in on Saturday! ;D

I see I am a little late replying with this thread....but just to help you guys out I work for airlines at the moment, most transatlantic e.g. Continental, KLM, Delta, Air France, Virgin, BA etc charge around £50 for a second bag and around £150 for a 3rd bag. Any bags weighing over 23kg but not exceeding 32kfg can cost anything from £50 up to £83, depending on airline. Any more luggage/airline related questions....feel free to ask :) x

To get BA cheaper, you can do it online for 30something before you fly, it's an extra £10 on top at the airport. x x

    - that depends if you're flying BA and they haven't changed it since I last looked. Think I'm going to take an extra one with duvet cover etc! x x

remember that the size of beds and bedding in the US is generally bigger than the UK so youd be best to leave your duvet covers etc at home and buy those when you get to orlando, you can get nice stuff at walmart or at target for fairly cheap :)

Ah ok, was thinking I wanted a duvet cover rather than american comforters and a gazillion sheets, was advised to do this by a couple of people...and means not having to trek to walmart straight off. Was thinking of getting sheets and stuff over there though...

What did most people do when you went? I don't know what to do now!!! x x

when i went pretty much everyone just went to walmart the 2nd day and got everything then, you have to go shopping for all your food things anyway so just do it all in one go after you arrive, i took with me a little light weight sleeping bag for the first night and it was fine.

as for the cold weather/winter clothes thing - i honestly found the shopping over there fine, shops like forever 21 are just like topshop etc and they stock winter coats, scarfs and gloves etc during the winter months so you can get all of that there, unless your flying over in november/december i honestly wouldnt over pack with all of that stuff - theres no need and you can pick up all of that at a much cheaper price than in the UK..... theres also shops at the premium outlets (like pacsun and gap) where you can pick up warm clothes.....

everyone always says that you should lay out what you want to pack, and then get rid of half of it - and thats what you should actually need to take! (apparently!)

dont worry too much tho, its orlando your going to, not alaska! theres plenty of shops - youl be fine! ;D

So we have to get a new criminal record? What about the ones we delivered at the interview?

you have to get a background check done in order to be accepted for a visa, so once you get your visa your good to go, you dont have to then get a second background check done. just take all your paperwork with you!

Thats some good advice. Think I'll bring out my ski jacket and a few hoodies but nothing OTT. Still got a fair few months to plan what I'm taking. Probably going to get bedding when I get out there. Would a UK Ethernet Cable work in the US? With most airlines if you pre-book excess and extra bags online its cheaper :) ooo and no bags over 32kg will be excepted for health and safety reasons or 23kg with Thomson/First Choice. x

not sure about the UK ethernet cable.... i got mine at walmart for about 5 bucks when i arrived, you could always buy a cheap one here and then if it doesnt work just pick up one when you arrive?
