I am off to disney on August 19th to do the J1 Academic Program...

Ive got a job doing Vacation Planner and Outdoor foods..

I was just wondering if anyone has experienced either of these roles and could fill me in on what there like?

    Cheers..

For vacation planning, you'll probably be at one of the parks selling tickets to guests. You will probably have early shifts. My room mate usually worked from 8am-2pm, and if he was scheduled PAC (crowd control for the parade) he'd be scheduled 8am-4pm.
The good thing is that you have the rest of the day free to do what you like, but if you'l probably have to get up around 6am every day so probably not the best if you don't like early mornings and like late nights!

That will probably be the same as quick service I'd think, wouldn't it? Maybe working the Giant Turkey Legs stand or the Churros station?

Or ice cream or popcorn... Don't worry you'll have fun. Just hope you won't do out door food during the summer...thunder storms every day :p

Yeah foods isn't bad... can be somewhat stressful at times but better than you would think (or at least it was for me).

In Epcot you are basically at any cart in Future World, as well as the place that sells McDonalds foods, and 3 other carts at the fringe of the WSC. In other words theres actually 3 different costumes.

Not sure about the other parks but I don't think they call ODF, ODF I think they had other terms so I have a feeling you'll be in Epcot (but I could be wrong)

Somebody told me that if it thunder storms you get sent in and paid for your whole shift..because its not your fault that its rained but its not safe to stay outside..is this true? It was somebody who did it over summer last year while i was there that told me..

Actually I don't know. I was working at the german pavilion. You just had to wait til a manager came to sent you in...but this took ages. I always had to do something in the restaurant

So you had to work in the restaurant when it started thundering outside? Are you going back 2 disney to work this year?

Yeah I had but I have no clue what you have to do, because you won't be trained to work in a restaurant. I will be working in Guest Relations.

That sounds well good..i would love 2 do that..but you have 2 be able 2 speak 2 different languages don't u?

I am going for 12 months. Yeah you have to be fluent in another language than English (which is German for me) and I speak some French and Spanish as well.

In Epcot ODF, when it rains you stay outside. If it's going to thunderstorm you quickly cover your cart, take down your umbrella, grab your money and get inside the nearest building.

They will radio you when it's time to do this (and I never had to in my month there), and they will also radio you when it's time to go back to work.

The only time you day will end is if the storm is bad enough and even then I believe you wait for the storm to end because you will still have to push back whatever part of your cart you pushed out (Usually your drinks).

I am thinking that maybes some of the people who have just been offered F&B the same time as me will be offered Outdoor foods as well..

I only know that im definetly doing this as i asked for this when they interviewed me..

But there surely must be more than just me doing Outdoor Foods and leaving August 19th..considering this is when the majority of american castmembers leave...Ready for the "Fall" or whatever its called :-\

i know someone who was in QSF&B but when she was got there her location was an ODF location. i guess there is some cross over.

Yeah, there technically the same thing from what i can remember anyway..i got told i am in QSF&B...but i told them at the interview that i could only do outdoor foods because its my placement..

So i suppose i could be working with anyone who's F&B i guess..I hope i get the extra money that the other F&B people get!
