Okay, I've been Opportunity listed as well as a few others I know.
Realistically, how long should we expect to wait? Any idea how the list works in terms of who gets called up first?
I feel like I'm going nuts already hoping and wishing for an email! :)

I'm on the Opportunity List too.
From what I've read on here no one really knows how the list moves along, some get a call within a few weeks or months and have even gone out earlier than people who were accepted when they got waitlisted, then others have to wait a REALLY long time to get a date. I know it must just depend on when they have spots to fill and how many. I don't know for sure, but then its hard to know how Disney decides any of their hiring LOL.

In my email it said 'We will be keeping your details on file until September 15th, 2011 and when further positions become available we will contact those on the Opportunity List." so does that mean they're going to be keeping us on the list till then and that's it?

I'm a successful UK applicant, and I wasn't waitlisted, so this may be completely wrong, but the way they seem to do it is ring you up when a date is available, and will keep you on the list until the 15th of September for any available dates if you do not hear before hand. After the 15th of September, you will no longer be considered for a place.

There are so many different reasons you might get called for the job off the waitlist... whether someone accepted ends up turning it down, people already down there get fired (which happens ALL the time), or they just re-evaluated their staffing needs and it wasn't adequate. It really is a huge waiting game.

I had my interview March 2009, got waitlisted, and got a call mid July to come down in September. I had a BALLIN contract! I became a trainer and extended til December 2010.. take that you dumb recruiters! Lol just to make you guys feel better, no one knows how they choose people anymore.

So hang in there guys, there is a HUGE chance you will get the call. Sounds like more people were waitlisted than were actually hired.. so don't give up hope! :)

As people have said, it's completely random how long you're on there for. I was for 3 months, but I know people who were only for a couple of weeks and others who were for 6 months. Also, if you do get called, just be aware you might be taking over someone elses visa (if they've gone home for any reason fairly early in their program), so you might not get the full year. For example, one of the girls I worked with was only on an 8 month contract.

Also be prepared for short notice. I was waitlisted in October 2009, called up mid January 2010 to come out early March 2010. I had 8 weeks to prepare, so I'd say get saving some cash just in case that happens to you.

You'd be amazed if you get out here how many people are from the waitlist (I think 5 out of the 8 in my arrival group were!), so just hang in there! xx
