For those who are already down there, What did you do once You arrived at the airport? How did you get to the Housing complex? What is your addvice to those who are coming down soon. Any recommendations? Thanks!
if you arrive earlier and stay in a disney hotel you should use there magical express which is free of cost if you book it in andvance.... if you arrive at the day you should come than use the mears taxi with the coupon you get from disney.... greetings
It is pretty easy to get to Vista Way. As soon as you arrive in Orlando you'll go through security and customs (if you come in with an international flight). Then you pick up your bags and go to the Mears Transportation desk. And they will bring you to Vista Way which takes you approx. 15 mins. Once you arrive here in Vista you'll see a video and get a welcome package and then the FUN can start!
What do you say when you get to the Mears Transportation desk? Did you book ahead of time? I heard you don't have to but I want to see what others have done.
I'm sure I read somewhere to pre-book if you're getting in at an awkward time, but otherwise you should be fine. I'm not pre-booking mine, just gonna be like 'Take me to Vista please!'
Is that where we go? Vista?? I don't know if that is in my pack or not, but I just thought I'd be going to the commons to check in ???
Yeah you go to Vista to the welcome centre, then they ship you off to the Commons or Patterson...as far as i know.
Yup, everyone checks in at Vista Way, where you have a brief meeting and then they take you to where you will live (pretty certain CRP is the same as ICP in that respect) - I think it is more set up for it than the Commons. Certainly Chatham is NOT set up for it! xx
Sounds pretty easy. I never got the coupon though in my welcome pack. Do we get that later? I think i might just e-mail them.
They email you the coupon nearer you departure date, I think I got mine a couple of weeks ago and I go March 9th. Around the same time they also email you with details for paying your programme assessment fee.
Mears is pretty cheap regardless if you have a coupon or not. When you arrive in Orlando you'll go into a tram and it will take you to the main building. Your luggage will either be on the A side or B side. You'll take an escalator down a floor to get the luggage. Then you'll go down one more floor and you'll see the Mears desk. You just walk up and buy a ticket, then you take it to the stand outside and they'll stuff you on the next van that comes around. There's signs everywhere so it's pretty impossible to get lost.
Thanks. It sounds pretty easy. I've heard Orlando airport is really good for signage. And its hard to get lost.
Does anyone have any information for people driving? Is there a certain time that we are supposed to arrive or is anytime good?
There is a video on youtube that will give you some idea how the Orlando Airport arrival and baggage claims are http://www.youtube.com/user/interplexworld#p/a/u/0/HUgY-KbNZt8 Hope it will help you get oriented
I'm sure I read somewhere on here that the welcome centre at Vista doesn't open till noon, so anytime after that. If you're flying, you have to let them know when you're getting in so they know when to expect you, so maybe you could email them and tell them when you roughly expect to get down there? Josephina...the music on that video is classic haha
Yea I emailed Kristen about this the other day Jackie (great minds think alike!), as I was originally looking at a flight that gets in early on in the morning. She said the Disney Arrivals Team doesn't open up until noon, and that if I chose a flight that arrived well before then, I might as well just poke around the airport for a bit and grab some lunch or something. Basically nobody is there in the morning at Vista to check you in, so it's best just to arrive sometime in the afternoon!
Guys I just printed the coupon and the instructions to get to Mears counter.. it shouldn't be hard to find.. and it's gonna be only 15$.. i mean a taxi would be way more expensive!
