i understand sod all about politics, but as these forums are made up of a) people who have lived in the usa b) people who are living in the usa and c) people who hope to live in the usa, who would you like to have as the next president? personally, i just like obama's style. he seems to be a very genuine guy, and i think it's about time the usa had a black president! but does anyone else have any views? particularly anyone who understands it? heh
I orginally wanted Hillary for the running but oh well, Obama is my favourite to win. He should win, he will do an amazing job of it. I have not been following it too closely for the past couple of months so i am unsure of the full story but i do the election is tomorrow, i think!
I would vote Obama too, the US needs change with both foreign & domestic policies. The dude's race has nothing to do with, America needs a president willing to do what is right for the people of the US rather than for himself & his company-owning friends. He could be black, white, latino, asian or native American, it's irrelevant.
Obama I would hope. I have nothing against Mccain but his choice for VP and the fact that if something happens to him She will be the next president. I really cant see anything good coming from that. Obama seems to have a good head on his shoulders and is well educated. I think he will make a great President to the USA. Guess we will be finding out soon who wins. I will be happy when it is over. In Canada it happens so fast, I like it that way.
I've actually got into these elections far more than any UK elections...! OBAMA all the way! I remember when I first heard about him, during the hilary/obama debates, and it said about his work which turned a whole city around from being a really run down place to a place with a future. I think Obama will have the guts to change what needs to be changed, without damaging the parts that are good as they are. And there's a whole website dedicated to pictures of him with babies.... squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! (lol, joke)
just to clarify, in case it sounded like i only wanted him to be president because to his race, that is not what i meant i'm thinking of how to explain it on here without sounding like my opinion is formed that way, but i don't think i can really. i suppose the best way is to use one the obama/biden mottos: 'change we need'
Sorry dude, it came across a little 'vote for him because he's black!' Thanks for clarifying your point, you're absolutely right - 'Change we can believe in' (As the motto used to be!)
i´M mexican!! and I thiink the american elections it´s something that everybody should care (and even more all the castmembers and future castmembersss).... what the americans need right now it´s a change and they will get it with OBAMA mCcain it´s bush with another body and yeaa we cant forget about Palin.... I hope that Obama don´t forget about all the things he is promising right now.. well good luck!!
My favourite Obama quote is "we are the change that we seek" and when he said that it sealed the deal for me. Although the fact that Obama is black is not the reason I support him, I do think that American politics needs a big change. And a black president, or a female president, or an any other kind of president that is obviously different to former presidents will do a lot of good- its a sign of the other good changes that will follow
i want obama to win however i feel that mccain will pip it. we were talking about it today and even though people are saying they will vote for obama they are apparently doing it so they dont appear racist and are actually voting for mccain in the booths. i wouldnt be shocked if mccain won. sarah palin is an odd one. she scares me!
the bbc was saying there's a certain expectation that people will go into the polling booths and be like "is america really ready for this", and vote mccain. but hopefully they'll just judge both candidates on their merits!
I pray they don't do that! All the Americans I'm friends with to have voted Obama, except for one who was always a McCain supporter.
OMG I cant' believe nobody has post this already Obama just made History!!! Wow I'm in shock, the only thing I'm hoping for is that he can acomplish all that he promised and I hope for him to be the president we all expect (and for we I mean the World, so it's a lot of weight on him)
WOOHOOO OBAMA WON! Im so happy, i wanted him to win. What is it he is proposing to do, i didnt get everything he proposed to do cause i didnt pay attention to much to the election for the past 2 months or so.
Universal healthcare, withdrawl of troops from Iraq (I think he said within a year), lower taxes for the working and middle classes & small business, higher taxes for the wealthy, better schooling with more teachers & to invest in alternative fuel sources so no more offshore oil drilling i needed.
Innit, it's a huge change & I'm stoked I will get to spend my year in Florida under the leadership of a man I admire, believe in & respect immensely.
