November 2nd Start Date!

Seems like eveyday start date has its own thread bar us lol.

I just booked me flight today, Leaving from Glasgow, then connecting at Gatwick and arriving at Orlando 17:25 local time with BA Mega excited!!!

So a little about me:

My name is Callum McKendrick, i am 21 and from Scotland. I have just graduated in BA Hons Tourism Management at Stirling University, and now basically just trying to fill my time till Nov 2nd comes along . I have done two programmes before both ICP, one in Food and Bev in Epcot Future World and second as a Character Performer where i became 'great friends' with Tigger and Eeyore! Best two summers of my life and cannot wait to get back 'Home'. We are going to have the best year of our lives! I also participated in Trek America last summer from LA-NY 3 weeks long including Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Monument Valley, Texas, New Orleans, Tennessee, Washington DC and NY - amazing!!!

Anyway thats me - can't wait to hear from the rest of you! x

I really want to book my flights asap! I think i'm going to fly out a couple of days earlier, maybe on the saturday or sunday before.

Yea I think its about time we had our own thread, well done Callum!

I finished my degree on friday, so I can finally start properly planning and getting excited for Disney! Still need to send the CRB form, and sort out insurance, and also find a job for the summer so I can save a bit of money before I go.
yay re. your flight callum! You got it for quite a bargainous price as well didnt you!? Did you contact the sta people directly?
Stu I booked my flight for the sunday because I wanted a little extra time to adjust and get over jetlag etc, also it means that my parents can take me to the airport. Im flying from gatwick at 13.00, arriving 18.25, with Virgin Atlantic. Now I need to find a hotel for the first 2 nights.

Glad we've got an expert going with us, Callum you'll have to be our unofficial tour guide and show us the ropes! Were you actually a character when you went before, or one of the people who accompanies them? Wow, sounds like you managed to get around quite a lot of America! Ive only ever done florida but definitely want to travel a bit and see some more of the US.

I just got a job there to do me till i go away (not that i told them that :s).
I was looking at going a few days earlier if it was cheaper etc but was a little more expensive and then would have to pay for hotel too so ive just left it and going on the actual day - donest seem to be many on our date yet :s so hopefully someone will join and be leaving on the actual day too lol.
I called STA directly, looked cheaper on the STA site at first then i went further and they added taxes - booo!
I can def show u the ropes while also pretend its my 1st time too lol as i dont want to tell u everything as its fun when it ur 1st time !
I was not accompying them i was an actual character ! - In my profile pic there i am Tigger - i have done Eeyore too and Kenai! It was immense.
Hopefully the times passes quickly till we go!!! x

 

Did you guys call the number in the step by step guide or just call the direct sta number?

The only good thing about calling that number is they say you'll get a free ISIC card but booking online seems so much easier!!

Callum your profile pic looks like it's from the boat dock. On my program i was an attendant and worked there quite a bit but didn't ever work with a performer from the UK!!

I think with the insurance im gonna get it for the full 12 months so that it is all paid for before we go.

Yeah there were never any UK people there on the days i worked but i knew a few UK performers who got put there too - they have a new bigger break room now Happy Days lol. When were you there?

I called the number in the step by step guide and asked for the Rachel girl they say to ask for - prob could of got it cheaper else where but guess its safer to go with the flexi flights from STA. x

 

i booked my flight! i ended up doing it online because the woman from STA was away for a few days and the price kept going up and down so i wanted to book before it stayed up! i'm going on the 31st with virgin too but my flight leaves at around 11am.

 

Hi everyone!! I got given 2nd November as my departure date today so I will be joining all of you! I'll be doing food and bev which was actually my 2nd choice but I have been thinking recently that I'd really like to do it so I guess everything's worked out well!!

I went to uni in edinburgh and graduated in 2009 and have been working for the past year. I did the ICP in 2008 working in Merchandise at the Yacht and Beach Club and had the time of my life. I was actually there at the same time as Callum so I still can't believe we've been given the same departure date!!

I guess I'll tell you a little about myself.. My name is Kaity(feel free to add me on FB.. it's Kaity MacDonell, I'm the only one I think!) I'll be turning 21 on the 30th of October so yay for being legal just in time! I'm from Canada, yup the Great White North My parents live in a really small town called Long Sault but I'm currently in Halifax for school (no worries if you have no idea where these places are, most people don't!) I've never worked at Disney but have always wanted to do this program, so like I said I'm really looking forward to it!

 

Hi Kaity! Congratulations! Wow, youre the first non-UK person Ive heard of starting our date. Very excited to have a Canadian along with us! Did you only just find out? Pretty good timing there with your 21st, although does that mean you'll be travelling down on your birthday?

Yea, I haven't heard of any other Canadians on my date, so I'm getting worried I'm going to be the only newbie! haha I just found out last week and it's still sinking in! And yea, I think my parents are going to be driving me down, so I'll be traveling for my birthday! Oh and I think I added you on FB, but I hope I got the right person!
