No more Commons for everybody?

Hi there! I am writing from Italy, and in the interview in Milan a few days ago, Disney said that we may be lodged in any of the complexes, and the commons are just a chance not bigger than others, not because we would be in a waiting list, but because they decided a new policy: to mix the different members in the different complexes, and not to reserve the commons to the WdwIp only as it has been so far.

She litterally said:"Cast members from abroad won't be lodged all at the commons as it happened so far. We decided a new policy, to mix them on all our residential areas..."

Have you got any news about it? I hope the fun will still be the same, what's your guess?

 

i've heard nothing about that, but the international college program participants all live across all of disney's cp accomodations - i'm currently in vista and am having a blast, its great to live with people who are in differnet parks and resorts and doing different jobs.

Hmm, well we got told we'd be in the commons. If they are having a new policy, wouldn't they have told us?? Plus it seems less organised if they scatter us everywhere. This is really annoying if this is true :-(

 

The reason they keep us all at the commons is for ease of transportation. We all work at Epcot so its easier to get us more frequent transport there. Seems weird they'd expand their bus system when keeping us at the commons works fine now.

 

Not everyone from abroad get put in the commons tho? People from abroad can get put in any complex - I thought it depended on what program u were on and not where u came from? and also I thought the commons was mostly for people on the cult rep program?

Maybe I'm wrong but thats what I've always seen...!!

Elisa! How is everything going so far? Glad to hear you're enjoying Vista! The people coming from January reckon we might be placed in Chatham coz there are supposedly a lot of people leaving just before we arrive. Have u got to have any fun around the parks yet?

Indeed they meant people on the cult rep programme won't be put all in the commons as it used to be but spread around all the complexes.
She also explained that anyway the transportation system does not go straight from the commons to epcot, but it is quite a long way through other complexes and facilities and wherver you are, the connections are equivalent.

 

I actually think this will be a good idea. I know many people felt segregated from the guys at the Commons because we weren't cultural reps.

I would have loved to get to know more UK cultural reps than I did...I mean, I met a couple but it's not quite the same. Also, I didn't get to meet that many people from other countries. It's only really if you're a cultural rep that you get to experience that, but everyone should!

 

I don't know about them turning this into a permanent thing but ive spoken to people i know that are already out there and they said because the commons is so full most of them are at vista and chatham and don't have much hope in being moved to the commons because there just isn't room, i think this is another reason why their spreading everyone over the different complexes.

I think that there basically just isn't enough room for them to house pretty much everyone who works at epcot in the commons anymore..I really don't know what there going to do, but they'll definetly be having a massive re-shuffle soon..

We hear loads of rumours really, but alls i know is that we could be moving out of the treehouses anytime really, although they've told us it will most likely be january..People have mentioned it could be sooner..But we don't know really..We got a letter to say that from october 1st they were getting ready to turn it back into a resort (Don't no whether im allowed to put that on here or not!) so they'd be building work going on around us!

Think its quite a big thing the treehouses shutting as a castmember accomodation though, because i don't think they'll just move us all into one accomodation..I think they'll scatter us around..But i also think it will mean changes to all of the other complexes as well, because i guess it would be a good time for them to do it if they have been planning it..Especially because there's such a large mass of people leaving january 4th..I think basically on january 4th, other than cult rep people, i think pretty much everyone who's not european is leaving..Thats the idea i get, because i haven't spoken to anyone other than europeans who are staying longer than january! Think whatever happens tho there's guna be something big happening in january, but you never find out nothing in disney until the week before!

 

hey, i have just arrived and am in vista, but will be moved in 2 commons. in orientation they said that all curltral reps wil b moved in 2 commons but they dont no when.

So at sum stage you will be in commons, but could b a few moths

 

maybe they will move all cultural reps into patterson courtwhen it opens in the summer, cos it is supposedly going to be bigger than the commons by a couple of hundred beds!

 

There is a big group of Australians (and some New Zealanders including me) arriving on November 27 (till February 8) for the ICP. I wonder where we will be housed?

 

I think the reason they told you oyu may not be in hte commons is that the commons is full at the minute, when I arrived in July I was put into chatham and was there for 7 weeks before I got moved into ht ecommons and I know people who are arriving for the IP who are being put into vista because the commons and chatham is full. So I think you will be in the commons it just may take some time before you get here

 

Yeah, i think maybe the cult rep may get moved to the new accomodation..

When everyone talks about where everyone from treehouse is getting moved to everyone seems to think the commons..I don't know whether they just think that though or someone from price management or something has actually said it..You never know really..Guess we'll all just have to wait till january and see what happens really..

The new accomodation isn't supposed to be ready till january from what i've heard..But at the rate there building it, it looks like it'll be ready by january!

 

when i was ther e over the summer they said it would be ready for next summer!

 

alot of room will become free in January as it is the main changeover for the american college program, so you could end up in vISta or Chatham.

with regards to the commons still heard nothing about spreading crp's, however the epcot bus calls at vista, chatham and the commons so if they diod change it CRP's would have no probs getting to work

 

Yeah, i just really can't see it taking until may for them to have the new accomodation ready..A week ago it was just an empty piece of land and if u've been past it lately they have knocked up the structure for about 8 blocks already and also what looks like the clubhouse..

Maybe it will take till then, but i just think the speed there going at, it shouldn't take anywhere near that long..You never know with disney though really, there unpredictable..

Went past seaworld today, the new water park is starting to look awesome, can't wait for that to open!

 

If it is really like that...I think it's very nice...I'm here in Commons and I can't still understand why we aren't all mixed with american people...some friends of mine who have been in chatam for example didn't want to move but they were forced to...and I think it is crazy!!

 

also just because your in chatham or vista doesn't mean you will end up with american housemates, mine are english, brazilian and mexican.
