Newbie interested in applying for the program!!

hey guyz! just a quick message to say that im new to all this and im very interested in applying for the program after just returning from WDW. Im 19 and really would like to be in the program when im 21. im 21 in december 2007. i was wondering if anybody could help me out as to when to apply. would appreciate it loadz!! p.s. have been reading all the posts from you guyz and everyone sounds soooooo lovely!! ;D

 

i think if you apply now and get thru ull have a march face 2 face interview and u can specify that u want to start in dec and that would be ok but im not 100% sure.

yeah i applied in march time so im going to the november interviewsd - im beginnig to wish id applied a bit later just because i wanted to have some f&b experience as well before i went as most of my experience is retail and they are looking for f&b a lot. sigh just applied to mcdonalds meh but hey at least theres the chance of working at disney to look forward to lol

i would love to work in f&b but i havent ever done any work in f&b before. i have retail and loads of suomer services experience & i did leaisure and toruism at college. but im guessing if you want to work in f&b they would want you to have experience doing it.

Ya know they plunk you wherever they need ya! I have worked in retail for 5 years of my life i was a manager, and i was a foody! It was horrible, I hated it, and i wanted to move to Retail so much! but i toughed it out and made it a year as a foody! But really disney will just put you where they need people at that time.

that's right! there were loads of people working in either department that had never worked there before...but if you really don't like it and wanna switch you can still try that...worked for a few people!

oh. so dont you get the choice which department you want to work in then??

 

at the interview u get a sheet to mark 1, 2 and 3 in order of preference, but basically if they need u sumwhere else they will offer u that position.

massive competition for jobs anyway so most ppl are willing to take wot they are given!

they dont ask for much experience, in fact i mention in my interview i want do F&B but i dont have any experencie and they told me that wasnt a problem, because anyway u got a trainer before start to work, so that doesnt matter

I am in the same position like Mattyuk. Never done any f&b before, but I would like to try. It is good to hear that you get trained before you get started.

 

i also did tourism at college with a few people, i worked in bars & restaurants, my friends hadn't, but we all got to go to f&b.

yeah, i heard f&b was the best $$$$$$$$$ hehe.so is anyone going to apply soon that wants to be there for xmas 07?

 

i have already applied and had my phone interview.. but as im not 18 i will not be going to the f2f interview till march.. which is iff u pass the 2 stages will be at ..
soo we will be at the same interview in london all going well!

Hey Everyone

Yeah i'm in the middle of applying now. Don't know when I would like to go out there but may aswell apply anyway, i'll probs be best round about the summer time. It all sounds really exciting . I think it would be an amazing experience. I'm getting excited just thinking about it. ;D

 

I am applying right now - so I hope I will be there Xmas 2007. I am planning to leave around July - if everything works out! ;D

i planning reapply to for march interviews, OMG!!! sounds soooo long!!!!!! but its almost 1 year the first time i apply and the time pass flying!!!! so lora dont worry, focus on something else and the time will pass flying =D

Ya know Food and bev, is good cause you do get the money, but everybody starts out on podium and moves up, but i found as people moved up they got more greedy, and they started geting money hungry and not caring for anybody but themselves. It's a shame to have seen that where i worked! There is one girl that sticks out in my mind the most, She was the nicest girl when i first met her and i just watched her move up on the lader and watched her fall lower with all her friends cause she just got horrible to work with! it's really a same, Dont' turn out money hungry, take what you can get.....Smile and be magical
