Hey guys, I've just found this site and I have to say that its really helped but now I have all these questions that i was wondering that someone could answer them for me - if thats not to much trouble. 1) I've read that you have to be 18 when/if you get a face to face interview. I'm 18 in march but i've also read that the next lot of interviews are in Feb/Mar (are they for positions starting in September?), will that mean that i wont get a face to face interview till later? 2) I only sent off my CV the other week, how long will it take them to get back to me? 3) Did you have to put down what you wanted to do, when you got there, on your CV? (hope not :-\) 4) If i get an interview where are they taking place? Is it only London? Only asking as i live in Edinburgh. 5) What type of questions do they ask in a telephone interview? I think that that is all for now, knowing me i'll think up a load more in the next ten minutes. Mhairi Â
hey mhari! 1)im not sure if you'd quite make the march interviews as you've not had your phone interview yet. dont get me wrong, its possible, but it does usually take longer than that. if you miss the march ones the next ones are in october. its a long wait, but its well worth the wait! 2)it takes up to 10 weeks i think for them to get back to you, but there's a chance they mightt send you an email or letter saying thanks for the cv and they'll get back to you kind of thing. 3)no you didnt. dont worry. you decide that at the face to face interview and even then you just put first and second choice to widen your chances so you have ages to decide, and even then its not set in stone! 4)i had my int in oct in glasgow. but they dont do scottish ints every time. it depends on if theres demand 5)they ask about you, and where you live. make sure you know some bits and bobs about your home town and make sure you can say a little about yourself. they might ask y you wanyt the job and how you'd feel about sharing a room etc. theyre mostly looking for a disney personality. Most of all DONT STRESS! its a long process. dont let it get the better of you as you'll crack! just relax and try to enjoy it. i wish you the best of luck and hope to hear good news from you soon. keep us posted! and feel free to ask any more questions you've thought of! xxx Lindsey xxx
Hi I've got my interview on 1st March for starting in sept/dec so not sure when the next lot are but it's a very lengthy process! I sent my cv off in Dec and had my phone interview about 12th Jan i think - not sure now. They ask about the city where you are, why you applied etc. I think it's supposed to be 8-10 weeks until they get back to you and arrange a telephone time and then within a week after that about face to face int. They asked me on the phone if i preferred food and bev or merchandise and yeah i think it is only in london - a bit of a pain for a lot of us from the north but hopefully worth it! Any more questions i'll try my best but Michelle, Lindsey and Charlotte know everything so i keep asking them! (Hey thanks girls )
haha zoe! that's only because we're on here ALL DAY EVERY DAY!LOL! we have no life and are completly OBSESSED with our impending leaving dates! haha. nah actually ive been through the process twice. first time i got it but went to a professional dance school instead s i knew they wouldnt accept me at age 20 when i got back from florida, but i knew i could apply for this again. so this is second time for me! and its still as exciting as the first! first time i had to go to london(and im from even further north that you - from inverness) but last time it was in glasgow. so as i say its completley by chance if theres enough people from up north or not. shame, coz it bumps the price up a lot! xxx
Thanks guys! Hoping that i at least get an interview :-\ Would really like to start in september as i want to go to Uni in september 2006. The positions are a year? aren't they? Knew that i should of listened to my mum and sent off my CV ages ago! oh well... i can only hope (and pray). Hope that they do some interviews up here - not that i mind going down to London, it'll be fun Mhairi
I would still send it off now Mhairi! I mean my situation around 12 months ago is when i finally decided i wanted to go to it once in my 1st year of uni, asked how to apply to lecturers who told me i couldn't until september, contacted jason he told me to send it on 1st april cos thats when they were acceptin for interviews in nov last year, so i did, had my phone interview beg of may and found out i was through to the face to face at the end of may. but if you wana go for it go for it! its a shame with dates for you but its a great opportunity! xxx
oh and mhairi as lindsey said for the last recruitment in nov 2004 for positions from march - june start, they interviewed in belfast, cardiff, glasgow and london. if there are enough people they'll split the interviews, so you never know! xxx
Hi Mhari!! Welcome to the boards!! Like the guys said the process can be very long!!! to get a leaving date in september you would need to be at the interviews at the ned of feb as these are for dates leaving in sep-dec this year. It is still poss for you to make these as i know of one guy having a phone interview this week to potentially be at the upcoming interviews. Am not sure about your age though? I dont know if theyll invite you to the facetoface as youre not yet 18 - i dont know if you have to actually be 18 to interview. I know a girl called Emma on here had had to wait for ages for her nterview as she only just turned 18 a few days ago. Your best bet would be to email Yummy and see what they say about the age thing!! good luck with your application!! Any more questions and we'll all be more than happy to help!! Michelle xx
hey! im that emma now 18 and on eweek old!!! yeah ive been in pain w8n for so long for my interview but its been totally worth it to meet evryone on here! im in the same situation as u! i have deffered uni entry until 2006 obviously hoping im succesful in this disney program...if not ill take a year out! ne questions that these guys havent answered pm me! ill be glad to give ne help being in thesame year and what not! luv emma x
Well guys i heard back from Yummy and they said i'd have to wait till i turn 18 and suggested i apply for the placements starting in november to december. The only thing with that is the fact that i'd be late for starting uni and you cant do that. So now i'm trying to change the date of entry to uni to this year so that i can start this year then go to disney at the end of my graduation. Its really painfull cause i had my heart set on going this year and my birthday is only 21 days after the interviews :'( oh well... Also another question. Whats the college placement like? What is it all about? what do you have to do? Mhairi
Mhari - look on the bright side - if you wait until after you graduate uni then youll be over 21 so wont have to worry about getting caught underage drinking out in Florida!!! Am not sure about the college programme - there are some guys on here doing it this summer so maybe one if them can give you some more information!!! Michelle xx
Hi Mhairi, i wanted to do the same as you and go to disney before uiversity but cos of when i turn 18 and when the interview dates are it would mean having 2 gap years, so i am hopefully going to uni this year and plan on doing the program after uni, and maybe the college program next summer 8)
Hey Stu Might meet you there in 4 years then Luckily the Uni's up here are being nice and letting me change my date of entry so i'll be able to start this year. How did you find out information on the collage program? I've looked on the website and it doesnt say any thing about people from the UK doing it. Anyways, just want to say good luck to all those going to the face to face interviews. I want to know all that happens! Mhairi
Hey, When i decided to go to straight to uni, i wanted to find out if there was a way i could still work at disney... and i remebered from the old boards that someone mentioned about a summer program. So i emailed yummy jobs and they sent me some info about it. i can email it to you if you want?? 8)
Stu, That would be great if you could do that for me. Just add on @hotmail.com to my user name. Thanks Mhairi
