Hey all! So here's the situation. I am currently a university student in Ottawa ON, but next year will be my last year of studies. I have always loved Disney and have always wanted to work there. Unfortunately I only heard about the International College program a few weeks ago! I really want to get the chance to participate in it, but I know how long application processes can take, and I'm wondering if I'm too late to apply for next summer? Have they even started getting applications yet? Also do you guys recommend I try for it? Any other Canadians here who have done the Summer work program? How was it? Also, my current degree is computer science, which I know is not fully related to a lot of the jobs there. Does this matter? And do you get a lot of chances to network and meet professionals? My ultimate goal is to some day work for Disney FT. But I always find that being in a different country is limitting the possibilities. Any advice on all this is greatly appreciated!! -Anita
Talk to the Canadian representative I guess ^^ I'm going after I graduate, but then again, there isn't a summer program available for my country.
I'd say give it a try now. When I was emailed last week about phone interviews it was mentioned that if I knew anyone else interested to tell them to send in a resume. So its worth a shot.
just ask, I think they have interviews in february as well so you might be ok. I hope your degree doesn't matter, I'm doing achaeology which isn't really relevant!!
Will you be doing the internship? Thanks for the info, I'll have to look into it more! Thanks for this info as well!
I would definitely contact Yummy Jobs to see if you can still apply. They still don't know the dates and cities of the face to face interviews so I would imagine you still have some time to hand your resume in. I'm in the same boat as you, I just found out about this program in August and next year is my last year of school too! Good luck .
No, I'm not doing the internship, just the plain ICP. I've been getting the feeling ours works totally differently to everyone else's though (we have our own section on the official site, too) and I know our visa is slightly different.
I'm pretty sure they're still accepting applications, there was a Travel Abroad Fair last weekend in TO and my friends who went told me the Disney booth there mentioned that they were still eligible to apply. Plus I think interviews for Canada haven't begun yet, so you definitely stand a chance! But the best thing to do would be to email Kristen/Yummy Jobs to ask. Good luck! (I'm studying in Canada as well)
Thanks everyone! I emailed Yummy Jobs and got a reply from Kristen. I think it was a generated template-type of email because it was just the description of the program with a "Thank you for considering..." at the top. HOWEVER, she did end the email saying "Please send your Resume to kristen@Yummyjobs.com quoting “Summer 2009†in the subject line. We look forward to considering You for the Walt Disney World International College Program!" So I guess that means we can still apply! YAY!!
