    Hi all

Thanks for taking the time to read and answer my questions. I'm Canadian and will be doing my application in the next day or so. I have a few questions regarding employment though

    1. If I only want to work at Le Cellier, what are my chances of getting in there? Not that I wouldn't be happy working anywhere, but after years in retail I'd like to get into service. I don't have experience with serving but my original college program is Culinary Management and one of my fave courses was service where we ran an on-campus restaurant.

    2. I'd be 28 by the time June/July 2012 comes around (when I'd be available to start)..... am I too old??

    3. Is the application on Yummy relatively painless??

Thanks again for taking the time! Cheers!

Hey there! I'm new to the CRP too but I think I might be able to help a bit.

    1. I've heard that they hire the most people for Food and Beverage in the whole of the pavilion so you have a good chance of getting a spot in there, especially if you had the college experience. And it never hurts to tell them what you'd prefer to work as. I put down in my application that'd I'd really like to work at O'Canada for attractions. It's better than not mentioning it at all. The only problem is that you might end up working at the popcorn cart before you get a position in the restaurant, so I've heard.

    2. That's not old at all. I've heard of some people in their thirties who have done the program fine.

    3. It's very easy. Just make up a profile, fill in the info, attach a resume (or CV) and maybe even a cover letter and send it off. It took my time with mine to write what I thought of a perfect cover letter. lol You should be fine.

    Good luck!

it might not be the same now but it used to be you had to be on podium for 3 months (popcorn cart, seater, greeter etc) before you could go into service in Canadian F&B also you can specify role e.g. merch, attractions, F&B when you do the f2f interview

    Hi roxysmum

Just to let you know that i've been asking myself some similar questions ("am I too old?" I'm 27 now btw but not even allowed to apply until January 2012. And "I have no service experience...will I still be able to do F&B?")

Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone.

Hope the application goes ok for you :)

    1. Since there are more roles for F&B, you'd almost certainly be placed in that role. But you're placed in the entire F&B department, which, as the others have said, mean that you have to work in other areas before you can work in Le Cellier.

    2. Age is just a state of mind ;)

    3. In terms of the CV, cover letter and online information it's relatively painless. The cover letter may take a bit of agonising over (it did with me!), but it's not too difficult. The waiting, on the other hand, is far from painless!

I worked in merch, but here is what I gathered for Cdn f&B: you definitely don't go right in as a server. You start outside, on the popcorn cart and/or podium, as well as seater. In that time, you memorize the menu like the back of your hand. When you are ready (I think you also have to wait a little bit, not sure how long before you are allowed to do this) you are tested on your spiel by your leaders. If they think you did well enough, they will let you go into food running (which seems to be the most grueling part of the progress.... food runners are ALWAYS tired and stressed out) and then I think you do a second spiel test which you have to pass to become an actual server.

Like someone mentioned, during your face-to-face, you will be given a paper on which you write in order 1-3 which role you want to be placed in the most. I don't think I know anyone who didn't get their first choice.

It is true that many of the people who do the program are between 18 and 25, but there are plenty of "older" people too. Age doesn't really exist at Disney, it's no big deal at all.
