    Hey Guys,

Do any of you have any idea about what we do with ref to national insurance payments while in the US? So far as I know these are still due. I read something about reciprocal tax arrangements but any info from anyone who has been would be bril.

    Regards,
    Jamie

as far as i know, national insurance is only payed when your working within Great Britain. when in USA you will pay social security as you will have to go and get your number.

While that is true, for your life you have to keep up a certain level of National Insurance payments (you dont get a pension if you dont do enough years), so do we need to keep up payments while abroad..

how long are you going away for? even if its for a year you really shouldn't need to worry about pension or any thing like that i really don't think that the British government will hold it against you for not paying national insurance for what ever length you are away. so what i guess i am trying to say is there is no need to worry about that.
