hello peeps, a moment of inspiration has just hit me and i have decided to put together some words which fit the commons (well from when i was there which im sure is still the same) i am looking for others who have a musical touch so that maybe we can get an international collaberation going. ill get the words together and get some music put to it and send the music etc through to you, once you have got the relevant stuff back to me i will get it pieced together and see what we have. could be fun so if you are an instrument player get intouch and we will see what we can do thanks for your time Gareth
I just want to say this is a great idea!! (unfortunately I have no musical ability)! Hope some other people get involved in this!
This reminds me of a song I wrote once when working, in Norwegian, based on a Norwegian pop song. I was actually looking through some papers the other day and found it, started singing it. Anyway, I'm not a very musical person, but I love writing, both in Norwegian and English. So if you need any lyrical help Gareth, keep me posted!
Hey Gareth I'm pretty musical and play several instruments but I was wondering when you were at the Commons and what kinds of memories you are recalling? I guess I'm politely trying to ask- how corny are these lyrics? If it's Ode to Mickey - count me out!
ha ha ha, thanks for asking belinda, i was there in 2000, jan to jan. the lyrics i was thinking about included drugs, drink and sex, kind of an anthem for the commons....like i say im sure the place hasnt changed, and between us, all nationalities included (and hopefully some cross language singing involved) im sure we would have a hit on our hands, even if it was bought by a few thousand a year ( as long as no one copied it and kept it real, ha ha ha) its such a big community we have all been in / entered, i really cant see why more things have been done, agents / pro singers / bands / other stuff!!!!!!!! man it seems like such a waste of such obvious entertainers....be honest most of us are!!!!!!! what ever your talents, lets share them and see what we can do..... i remember when i was there the canadians were into djing, im sure that i could organise a tour for would be djs here in the uk enough to pay for some return tickets etc, all atelnts would be good to hear, even if you think freakish....the world is missing a freak show....ha ha ha i look foraward to hearing from you all Thanks Gareth
Hey Kristin - do remember a girl called Elisabeth - she was Noway merch in 2002, lived in Block 4? - she could play guitar was really good - she wrote some fantastic songs about Commons life
Yes I remember her, I lived in block 4 too, hehe. I still talk to her on MSN sometimes, she's studying in Trondheim now. I guess you remember... I think her name was Rachel, but I'm not quite certain... She was in UK merch aswell, she was one of my flatmates. She moved out though, to a 2-person apt along with her Canadian roomie Shannon. And I also had another UK roomie, her name was Clare and she was in Foods. They both arrived somewhere between March and May 2002.
I know Clare - she went out with Tony ( Uk Merch) for a while and of course i remember Rachel - i thought she was top! - and that girl could sing - her voice was amazing
