Hi everyone!! This site is amazing, I've been driving my friends nuts talking about disney and how badly I want to work there!! I've just applied, for the summer program, sent my resume and cover letter in yesterday, I'm from canada so I emailed it in to Eric, who in his emails answering my questions prior to applying seemed really nice. I still have more questions, though, and don't want to bother him, so hopefully you guys have some answers... ok, so I wanna apply for a character role, and I'm short (5 foot nothing) with a background in dance and musical theatre. Apparently the have a couple of character positions open still, does anybody have any idea what sort of character roles we are talking here? (I'm open to anything, I'd be fine with being in a stuffy costume but I'm curious if summer people can be other, non furry characters or in parades, etc.) We pay for our own flights, right? ( I assume so, but just to make sure...) I'm gunna be underage for drinking in the states, will that be wierd? (It's annoying, as I'll be legal here and am already legal in Quebec) will I still bond with people if I can't really party with them? Anybody else out there from Queen's University? I've sent in my resume etc, so what is next, do I call eric or does he call me, or email me, or do I just get a time for the interviews in february or what?? and then if I do get a f2f, how long til you find out, and after that if you get accepted, is that it? and if I am going for character, do I audition in florida or before I leave? Do any of you guys look for hidden mickeys? Last time I was there as a guest, i bought this great book about them that said many were in cast only locations-- any hints? If you go for merch-- any chance you'd be assigned the bibbidy bobbidy boutique? On days off etc, do people hang ever go to wdw or is it usually a break from disney? CMs get in free, right? also do you live with people who are there for the same program as you (like, are summer people with summer people) or is it a mix? ahhhhhh! I really hope I get this, I just wanna be able to say that I worked for a mouse. I love disney, and people who I tell about my dream to work at disney world think I'm crazy. Thanks so much for any info people have! * P.s, add me on facebook if you want! my name is Steffie Davis!
Hello~~ I can provide what I belieeeve to be reasonable answers to your q's... 1. Wooh Character Performer rules! I've been accepted as a character performer for ICP 2008 Yay! And yes, it's the stuffy costumes. No face characters for us lowly ICPs sadly. If you squeeze in under 5ft you'll be very popular - I think that's how I got it And in my interview, Jeff said the auditions were partially to see if we were parade material although I hear that it's very rare to do parades on ICP. Boat's still out on that one I can't say for sure either way... 2. Yeh we pay both ways. CRPs (the year long one) get their return fare back lucky things. 3. I'm also going to be underage. Lot's of people are going to be underage. We are all the cooler for it ne? 4. No, I'm from UK lol 5. If it's the same as here, you will probably have a phone interview - I guess after xmas now. Then you find out if you got a F2F, Some people get told right after their phone interview. I found out a few days after it and some people wait a month I believe. And if you accepted after f2f that's it -you then do visas, flights and all that jazz. And we will audition in FL when we get there. 6. No idea on the hidden mickeys but I want to find these cast location only ones! I'm sure there's loads of people on here who have a lot more info on that. 7. I assume so! Is that where they have the fairy godmothers in training? I think it's possible... I'm sure I saw a post about it somewhere... not sure how possible in statistics. 8. Free park entry, mickeys retreat, I think there are sometimes beach days out arranged fo a small cost. Walmart? Lol, I guess it depends on your shifts really. 9. That's what this place is for - when your family and friends are fed up with us we come here ;D woohoo! Good luck! I'm sure there will be more useful posts added soon! xx
in my traditions class there was hidden mickey on the wall, i dont know if you can get the boutique i think it depends on the roles avalible, the american cps have it on their role list but i havent seen it on the english one
Yay! Thanks for the help! Ya, i pretty much am under five feet, I round up-- I am actually 4 foot eleven and a little bit. sucks that we cant be face characters, although I would love to do parades- maybe if we rock the audition?? I have dance experience, but I'm sure others in this program do too, so if it's rare they must be looking for more long term comitment or something... Tiddelypom, If I get accepted, I feel like we'll end up kowing each other, we'll both be underage characters... anyone from canada know if eric will call me or email me after recieving my resume or if I should call him? Thanks again for the help so far!
<shameless plug> Steffie, I've set up a site - www.tiddelypom.moonfruit.com which has my experience of the process so far which may or may not make interesting reading! </shameless plug>
Wow, that site is such a good idea! and a great way for people at home to follow your adventures and for you to rememer everything thathappened after it is all over. (if i get accepted, i might just follow your lead and set something like that up, if you don't mind the copying...)
Re: BBB, yes you can get it... but I don't think you'd want to considering the stories I heard about it! (I worked in World Of Disney and quite a few people had moved there from the Boutique- apparently it's quite a cliquey place to work and with so many girls in one place it can get a bit overly dramatic! Plus... knits... and apparently some of the kids/families are AWFUL... and the management are meant to be horrible.... so in general... you're better off not getting there and if you do just move to WoD instead, much nicer people to work with ) Good hours though And being underage for drinking is fine. Well, it's frustrating that you can't go to PI but there's House of Blues on a Sunday, Buffalo Wild Wings and plenty of places in Downtown Orlando where you can go. To be honest, if you're sensible about it then it's pretty easy to drink in Vista (not that I'd encourage this of course... )
There's a thread on here somewhere about Cast Member blogs where loads of people have posted their sites (mine being one of them lol; I promise one day soon I'll finish updating it!) I like to say I started the trend but I probably didn't haha.
Why thankyou! Course I don't mind lol I'd be a bigfat hypocrite if I did - i'd be only flattered that I first inspired you to follow the trend! Yes I must find that thread. And actually, it *was* your blog that made me want to write one! All hail Louisa! Blog-queen of the western world!
Hey I've just found the discussion about blogs and have ressurected it To add to the fray, mine is www.thedisneyadventure.moonfruit.com xx
