Hi, I have one quick question to you lucky people that are in Florida. Is there a "monster" in the kitchen sink in which you put you foodwastage like melon skin and that gurgles really loud? I used to love watching this when I was over with my family as a little girl . Thanks for your answers, I know this is a bit of a weird question, I was just wondering. xoxo Gini
yeah there is a waste disposal thing in the sink where you can put down food waste which does indeed gurgle and stuff
Hey, Alex if you mean me, no I haven't even applied, looking forward to it though. Wooo!! A monster! Great!
If by monster you mean Garbarator(spelling?) They have them in the commons but mine broke because i dropped a shot glass in it hahaha
Seriously? Aw, i so loved them when I was a little kid, I don't remember them smelling. Not so much looking forward to them now, although the sound will bring back memories as for breaking one with a shot glass. Hiwdid you explain that?
They only smell because i think most places in the world (aside from america) don't have them.. and have to idea how to clean/change them. I just remember all the food chilling down in the thing.. it was gross. But you clean it regularly and such you'll be fine.
@ Alex I plan on leaving between January and early April 2012! What about yourself? @ morra, I'll keep that in mind and look after my monster! Can't have a stinky kitchen!
I get a real chuckle out of this thread. Garbage Disposals (as you lovingly call them "monsters") don't stink if you use them regularly. Watch out for falling spoons - they make terrible noises! Please no garlic in them - that smell will hang around for a while. If you suspect something in them that doesn't belong (silverware, bottle caps, plastic remnants, rubberbands or jewelry) - remember to call maintenance. Sticking hands in a monster could otherwise end in a rude awakening. Have fun - I miss mine in Germany.
Hey I'm from Germany, too! I really wouldn't like my jewelry to fall down that thing! Looking forward to feeding mine in the apartment anyway, just not with stinky stuff. Oh, while we are already in the kitchen department: can you put magnets on the fridge? I feel quite homely in this thread actually! Did anyone get any chance to bake? Thank you with putting up with my slightly odd inquiries! Love, Gini
I guess the shot glass fell in it after mixing myself a drink! I didn't realize it fell in until it was too late... Horrible sounds later, it no longer worked lol.
I'm trying to imagine she crunching, saw-like sound of the shot glass, it's not pretty. Thank Mickey for the magnetic fridges! At least something that can be styled!
yeah i baked well i opened ready made chill pack of cfroissants unrolled them and put them i the oven so thats baking right? We had tones of random fridge magnets and theres the hugggeee magnet place in downtown disney called i think the magnetorium or something that does loads relly cheaply too but you tend to accumulate stuff esp if your in an appt with people already in it - they leave and radom stuff like magnets get left behind the garbage disposal things in the commos have strong magnets at the entrance so if you drop a spoo or kife they wont go down there unless you try to force it down intentionally - we spent about an hour one day throwing spoons at it to see how many we coulde get attached to the magnet at once - i am not sure why we did that now but at the time it seemed like a good idea - i thik that may have been down to the fact we made jelly shots
Ok, im am only 17 And still a Little naive, what are jelly shots? A whole place full of magnets? That sounds Devine I guess we can count that as baking. Another random kitchen question: if there should be any veggies here, did your roommates put up with it easily? Have a nice day! Gini
