    Hi guys,
I know I am not an accepted or current participant (shame on me!) But I am posting this question to you guys because you all seem to have done your research! I am once again thinking about doing Disney for the year. I am from Canada and have figured out that the College program is a no go. So now comes the decision as to whether I apply for the year after I finish university. Does anyone have ANY idea as to how much money you can expect to have when you leave? Or is that better refraised how much debt? I am all for taking off a year between undergrad and grad school, but since I will be paying for the majority of my grad work I need to think of the financial side of it...boooo to money! Any words of wisdom are appreciated. And by the way- congrats to all you Canadians who just got accepted..so exciting, I was super excited for you/maybe a bit jealous!! Especially you Ontario kids since I am one myself! Hope to talk to you soon...

Hi !!! Nice to meet you Im from Mexico and I will meet Mickey in October hehehe

First of all you have to pay for your visa, your first two weeks in the commons, an extra fee and more charges that are like 800 dlls (for your visa, extra charges and the commons) plus your flight that from canada I dont know exactly how much is it but you receive your pay check 2 weeks later, you work 32 - 50 hours a week aprox. and is 6.70 dlls per hour I think and in tipped work is $3 plus tips so in colcusion you have to save to come and work with us hehehe

Also they told me that if your dont have enough money for your flight you can ask disney to pay for it and than each month they take a part from your pay check so dont worry ! ;D

Nice to meet you too! So that answers part of my question. It is confirmed you go down there and get into debt! haha... too bad it sounds like such a wonderful opportunity so this whole financial issue is hard to swallow. Does anyone know if anyone leaves Disney with money, or is it more of a spending frenzy. I recognize you could just save more than the average, but I feel like that would result in less fun..which I am opposed too. ANy more thoughts and thanks for your help!

    Hey everyone,

I'm from Canada leaving for Disney in December.  I'm going to save as much money as possible before I leave.  I'd hate to not be able to get the most out of my florida experience because my Disney pay cheque is going to living expenses.  I want to make sure that i have enough cash to do all that I want to do in my year.

@ Allieoop, I'm just finishing my last month of college, and like you, i know all about debt.  Best of luck to you!  I hope you decide to interview for Disney!

they told me that if you work in F&B you have some chance to save some money but in attraction and merch and with Orlando's night clubs, shopping nad fun at the beach is hard to resist and you dont have chance to save it, but I think that you dont go to be a millionare in 1 year , you go to have fun, meet people, and have the best experience in you life so... who cares about saving if you have enough to live there?

    Hehehe! Olga

F&B is defiinatly the way to go on this one. We may not leave with any extra money in our pockets but you'll make enough to have a little fun and to be able to live on. If you are looking to save money for grad school though..... it's not the best paying job. It's about the experience, not the money.

    Hi

    Allie:
Im Pablo From Mexico I have recently finished my undergraduated degree, and Im rignt now takinf a "Half Master" it is akind of Minor degree, I will tell you something, I really doubted about applying for Disney because I must be Honest, from the people that I know that worked there they also tell you "you are not going to becomoe rich working for disney", and my friends came back with some money I mean Really Good Savings (Also depends on your expenses) and they told me, we earn enough money to live, have great parties, and have some savings.

Im an engineering (with minor degree grad on May 05) and some people told me: "Why are you trying to go Disney, you can find a job with great salary", then I started to think the things, but I realized that this is a once in a life opportunity, if you dont decide to take this kind of things now, then you will let them pass forever, and you will remember that.

you will really get a lot of things better than money, (international friends, "Customer" Guest relationship management with the enterprise with best quality in the world, you will excercise yout tolerance, patience, and capabilities, you will improve on your happiness, and you will win daily something that have the value of all the money in the world,,, the smile of children), believeme the things that you are going to win in that year will be extrimely usefull for a grad school, you will also have the creativity to develop a problem solving mind because you will be on your oun supported by people from different cultures, that really is priceless....

I hope that this "boaring speech" helped you a little bit..

"the only place that you can find success before work... is on a dictionary"

    Hey Allie,

I'm from the U.K and off to Florida in Dec (see you there Mel!! ;D), I work full time at the mo so i'am trying to save as much as possible to take with me. I will be working in merch so I know I wont come home with anything, the money I make while i'am there is going to cover living costs and any money I take with me is money to enjoy myself with ;D So yes I think I will be in debt when I come home :(

Never mind its once in a lifetime opportunity. Think hard about whats best for you, good luck.

Dont expect to be rich and come with the idea of your life experience !

Choose an area where you think you'll have fun and dont care so much about the money you r going to save !

Hey Guys! Man I leave for 24 hours and I have all these responses! All of your words wisdom are very appreciated, esp. Pablo ;). Such inspiring words! This whole "expereince of a lifetime thing" is definetley what is making this decision so hard. I am only in my second year on university and am probably going to have to take 4.5 years to finish, so I still have a bit of time to decide. But this application process takes forever so maybe not! Anyways,I am going to have to keep talking to my parents. Because they are the source of money these days so they have to part of the decision making process. I feel like I probably could save a bit, since I seem to have mastered the concept of living on a budget. But when I get to Disney I completley transform so who knows! You guys are so lucky to have decided and gotten accepted to do this....sounds like such a blast! Since I am not incredibly well traveled either its such a cool concept (The extent of my travelling is going to Disney's World Showcase!) So where are most of you in your lives? As in just finishing highschool, university, college, what? Nice to meet you all!
    Allie
