    Hi there!

I am leaving in 12 days and I was wondering what kind pay-method is the easiest to use. I was told to bring a few hundred dollars in travellers checks, but it does not sound very practical. Can I use checks to pay for pretty much everything, or do I need to cash them out in a bank?

What about my VISA, will not that work like I was at home or do WDWIP just assume that other countries are to "low tec" to have them? When they tell us to bring checks? ::)

As far as I know, pretty much everywhere will take traveller's cheques so you don't need to cash them! but you might want someone to verify that cos I don't want you to hold it against me if I'm wrong ::)

hey, am taking a mix of cheques and cash, but the reason they dnt encourage visa is cos u will be charged a fee for using it abroad and then a charge for currency conversion.

Hey, Ellen is right, 99% of places will take travellers cheques in florida, its just like using cash then you get change in dollars (shops, restaurants, everywhere really),
I think i'm taking most of my money is travellers cheques as that it is safer that taking all cash, travellers cheques you will be insured if you loose or they are stolen, each cheque has a different number on so they can be replaced. Take some cash with you to get you started to you will always need some cash.

    Hope that helps.

Traveller's Cheques are the best idea. Then you can always deposit them in your account when you get one...or just lock them in your locker and you can use them if you go on trips on your days off. I used them only until I got my first paycheck in my account then I put them away until I needed them. Take some cash with you too though. Places aren't too happy to cash $100 or $50 checks for small things.

I used my Canadian credit card A LOT when I was there. I just had to make sure that I left some money in my account back home so my mom could pay it for me (or she just kept a list and I owed her a FORTUNE when I got home...yeah Florida debt!!!)

If you are in F&B, you'll have no money worries when you start making tips because you'll always have cash.
