Mobiles...

Hey everyone,

Just wondering what everyone is doing with their mobiles while they are away. I don't really wanna be paying my monthly bill when i might not use it! I dunno whether its just better to get a sim card out there and use that? i did go to my phone shop today but the girl was so unhelpful! didn't really know too much u know!!

If anyone has any ideas...??? or knows someone who found out what to do with theirs, would be greatly appreciated!!

I know this topic has been mentioned before, so sorry for that guys!

Hi Hazel, apparently if your phone is a triband it will accept american sim cards but you will have to get it unlocked if it isn't. I understand that people are just buying sim cards or phones out there

 

I have to pay out my contract...$150 :-[
But then I just get it unlocked and it'll work in the US...I'm just going to buy pay as you go cards.

 

I'm lucky enough to not be on a contract. I won a phone from Bell (Canada) over 2 years ago now, and it's been on pay as you go since I got it. I was debating unlocking it, but I think I'm about ready for a new phone anyway so my new thought is getting one down there... Either on a 1 yr contract or a pay as you go package...

Not really thinking much about it until I go tho...

Also for the topic starter you should see how much it's going to cost to buy out your contract... I know my old phone (from Rogers for CDNs) was pretty much gaurenteed to not cost more than $200 CDN to buy out and that value decreased over time.

 

no for Rogers it nly $150.

 

Ah this was a few years ago though (4 or 5) so they may have changed it... I know my price was 200 though for sure.

 

I found out shortly after I got mine that after spending €100 on credit, my phone would unlock automatically... Yay!

So I'll be getting a pay as you go SIM card over there, I think.

Actually i'd be even more recient than that... now that I think about it I got my phone almost 4 years ago now, and would have bought it out 2 years ago when I won that phone.

But yeah either way good for everyone on rogers that needs to buy it out.

lol I know that feeling. If I get a Sept date, I'll have about 4 months of work to save up. I'd rather go in Sept than Dec but Dec would give me so much more money...

Oh well first step is F2F this Friday.

 

ive jst got back from florida last week and got my phone bill today! txt msgs made were included in my bundle!!!

think i mite drop my minutes and increase msgs a bit - do belive its 1 txt from usa = 4 txts from bundle but im goin to give them a ring...

o, thats o2 btw!!! (with international traveler service!)

 

hey im with o2 atm, an online pay monthlly tariff tho.. was that o2 payg???

what does unlocking my phone do by the way if ne one knows?

enables you to use your phone on any provider with the sim card. Like in the uk orange, vodafone etc..

me i'll take my cell phone coz my contract is a 12 month and it's finish in june, so after 'ill buy i think a new phone or perhaps just a sim card, i'm not sure actually
