hello, i was just wondering... does anyone know if you can take over a mobile from here and put an american sim card in it? or would we have buy an american phone? thanks!
I can answer you that. It all depends on the phone you have. If you have one that is compatible over here in the US, then bring it! To find out if it's compatible over here, visit your mobilephone dealer. When you get over here there are a lot of plans and prepaid plans to choose from. I'm the person that always check into things before bying something, and i can almost guarantee you that the prepaid plan from T-mobile is the best one to get if you're going for the prepaid solution! check out www.t-mobile.com for more info. And of course you will need a new simcard down here, but the price for buying a new simple phone with that simcard is the same as buying only the simcard, that is after your mail-in rebate though. That's what I went for, so now I use my home from back home and the new american simcard from tmobile, and also has an sparephone! Seeya
I brought this amazing cheap T-Mobile mobile in Wall Mart the other day. It only cost $40 and it was a pay as you go. I did bring my UK phone and it didnt work.
think i'm gonna buy a nice new one when I get there coz my phone at the mo is quite crap.plus i'll see if i can get one that will work back in the u.k,my mates did when she bought one in oz.bonus! ;D
If your mobile is a recent Tri Band GSM, it will work for sure, just be sure you can use your mobile with another company because some are locked.
If u want to unlock the phone, most compagny charge aroung 200 $ for a phone. Anyway you should look up on the wet , like on ebay. Sometime u can find good cell phone, tri-band for sure. Make sure u can put a sim card in it. Motorola , samsung and Nokia are most of the time sim's card cell phone !!
Does anyone know how much it would be just to buy a sim card over there?? I know my phone will work in the US but not sure whats best buying a sim card or buying a new pay as you go over there?? Helen x
I bought the TMobile one from Walmart too...nearly everyone here has the same phone!! it txts and phones the UK fine...and if you put $25 on they give you $25 free!! i'd just go with that for those of you who are thinking of getting one....I haven't even seen a proper mobile phone shop where you could ask about sim cards!! i no where there are 3 mobile shops in the same mall - only prob is the mall is ages away from disney, its along US 27 past Haines City to a place caled Eagle Ridge - if u can get there u could ask there - bit of a long shot but hey ;D
It cost me $15 dollars to buy just a sim card and that came with some free credit! There is a phone shop next door to the old Wall Mart thats were we all get our phones from. If you want to buy the whole phone and sim card thing it costs $70 so its still really cheap. im with cingular and theya re supposed to be the best one out here. Hope that helps you all!
