hey guys ;D i was wondering if its a good idea to take your normal mobile phone over to the U.S.A but the charges are probably high, not sure so is it better to buy one over there? ???
Hi I used my mobile perfectly fine last year in america but when i came home to england my network never changed back to the uk O2 which was very annoying! this could have simply been a fault in the phone.. very much doubt. if it helps im still going to take my latest phone with me when i go in june cause i have all the number of friends etc on there saves the hassle of transfering etc. cost of a text is roughly about 40p. quite pricey but if you use msn and email you won't spend too much credit! hope ive helped have a good trip!
If you're there for a year it is certainly cheaper to buy one there. Roaming charges are very high - you will certainly save money by buying a new one!
You can always get your cellphone unlocked then when youre over here you can apply it to a US plan, pay month to month and then when you get back to the UK swtich back to a more permanent UK phone plan.
If your bringing a phone from Europe you have to check if you have triband or duoband. My phone was bought sommer 2004 and only has duo band. So it won`t work in USA, Only Europe and Asia. So I have to get a new one. But of corse the model after mine has triband..should have waited..
so if we are going for the summer programme would u suggest we got our phones unlocked and bought a pay as u go sim over in the usa to use?? xxx
