"A preliminary report shows no signs of trauma on the body of a four-year-old, Dodi Bamuwamye who died this week, shortly after riding the Mission Space thrill ride at Epcot.

He became unresponsive while on the ride with his mother and sister.

Investigators say the boy did meet the minimum height requirement for the ride, but just barely.

It may take up to 12 weeks for full autopsy results to come back.

Seven other people have had to go to the hospital after riding since Mission Space opened back in 2003.

However, Disney says the ride is safe, considering more than eight million people have ridden it without any problems."

Man, did I hate that ride!!!!!! Never wanted to go on it, but got dragged on when Craig's friends came over. Couldn't wait for it to be over. It's a good thing they toned it down a little from the cast previews or I'm sure there would have been more than 8 in the hospital!.

Does anyone think they should close it?

At least for now, until they determine the proper cause of the little boy's death. They have only had few accidents in their time, but this goes to show that you can never be safe enough.

Apparently the ride opened as usual the following day. Disney reckons that the warning signs as you're waiting in line are enough.  But 8 incidents in about 2 years is a cause for concern perhaps, and the fact that one person has died should start alarm bells ringing! When someone died on Thunder Mountain in California, the ride was closed for ages whilst they checked things out! Thunder Mountain in Florida was even closed in case a similar incident happened there. Maybe they should close it down whilst they check to see if the ride is safe...

I'm wondering why a four-year old was even on the ride in the first place! Even though he passed the minimum height requirement you would think there would be some kind of an age restriction.

and surely there are some alterations that can be made to it so that it's not so awful they'd need to include sick bags next to the seats!?!?

I can't see the Q for that ride being too long for the next few weeks!!

its worrying, i wanted to go on but it has put me off now. I feel sorry for that lil boys family because you don't expect a tragedy like this! i don't no bout ne1 else but i put my trust in the ppl who build and maintain rides to keep me safe! i think out of respect it should have been shut for atleast a wk.

I haven't read too much about it...but...did he have any other medical issues to begin with? I didn't like it, but I don't really see any reason a 4 year old couldn't be on it.

I really liked the ride very much!!!!! I defo put my trust on the people that design the rides!! It's really sad about that boy, but I wouldnt like it to be closed. Specially because it gives you a little taste of what austronauts are exposed to, the 4G's I mean. They have the same ride in Cape Cañaveral at the Kennedy Space Center.

the ride is really cool, altho I think the restrictions should be by age not by height, everyone who gets off feels weird in some way and for someone really young this can't be good, I was just sayin the other day you should have to be 12 or above to get on it due to it's intensity

lol, i did love the ride.... the more gs the better but they do need to put age resrictions on them as they little kids haven't fully developed yet and the harm they can cause is to good!!!!

my thoughts are with the family at this tough time!!!!

But in reality...how many little kids, teenagers, grown-ups and grandparents have gone through the ride in the past two years now...and only 8 have been seriously affected? Yeah, that's a little more than most rides...but it's a little more intense than most Disney rides. Maybe these 8 people had medical problems that they didn't realize until too late. They do give you an AWFUL LOT of warning in the preride areas...enough to freak me out a little.

This was actually the first thing I heard about down here... I just can't believe anyone would bring their 4-year-old on such a ride. Its pretty physically demanding, that ride.

    Hey gals and guys,.\

Hey I was making the line for that ride the same day, it was an 60 minute queu.
and then after 40 minutes they close it, and we were like, uh!!!

But then, that nite we came back home, and we heard in the news what really had happen
and we ended up as cold as ice.

But as for me, I love that ride, it is very cool, but yes it is very intense.

My theory is that the kid didnt wanted to ride, and he had a heart attack because of the impression.
Actually I dont think there was nothing wrong with the ride.

    See ya
