Det kommer an på hva du tenker på. Når det gjelder penger, er F&B bedre, men det er best miljø i Merchandise.

Money is definitely better in F&B...but if you like time off...Merch is great for that!!! I was in Merch and I always said that I had time off, but no money to spend and that F&B had no time off, but lots of money to spend.

It depends on your personality really. I would have hated F&B.

especially with the people working in f&b back then i was happy i was working merch...i wouldn't have wanted to work in the german biergarten since it's a buffet-style restaurant...in merch you could definetely interact more with the people...but like the others said it's a personality thing really...

That wasn't like that in the Norwegian pavillion when I was there though... servers were always the ones getting to go on the long expensive vacations, the ones coming home with that great looking tan, us attractions and merch had to struggle quite a bit for extra time off... Though I guess this changes, like all other things.

what you choose at the start of your contarct is what you stay in through out so theres no changing between merch and F&B

When I was there a few years ago some people did get the chance to switch from merch to F&B. It was mainly because they were short-staffed in F&B because of people leaving early and people getting terminated and at the time we were slightly overstaffed in merch. I volunteered for it to get to do something different for a few weeks but it was only podium stuff (no service i.e no tips) but then was glad I didn't get picked as I though merch was more fun!!! Finished earlier at nights to get to the pub!!!!
Anyway, a few merch people switched over to F&B and ended up staying and becoming servers but the as it turned out after a couple of months we ended up short staffed in merch and we were offered lots of overtime! Which helped me fund a trip to Las Vegas!!!

With regards to which job is better I really do think it's up to your personality. I actually applied for F&B but then got put in merch. I thought merch was more fun as you got to interact with the guests more and it wasn't as bitchy as F&B. They were always competing to see who could get the best tables and earn the most money!!! ;D

sounds to me like i'd prefer merch dont like the idea of relying mainly on tips and merch sound alot more chilled out!

Depends on your motives for the program.

Merch for me is closer to the idealistic experience of working for Disney. It's less money, but you can relax and have more fun at work. Like with talking to guests, playing games etc. I was in Merch and enjoyed it. I loved talking to people and working at mostly a relaxed pace.

Food is more lucrative, no doubt. But I know of quite a few people who hated it in there; apparantly it can be quite competitive as you're all vying for so many spaces in service or on the bar. Friends I have there say you need to be tougher skinned to work in food and beverage. But the rewards financially are much higher.

As Shan says, it depends on your personality.
