Hey guys.... have a question.....

Do we (Merch people) have to do deliveries and if so when do they come? :S

I think it was tuesdays we got deliveries. Anyone wanna correct me on that?

There is a stock team in each pavillion, usually a data maintainance person and perhaps a couple of control stockers (say hi to Raylene, shaz and debs for me :-*) but they work from like 6am to about 3pm. If the delivery is late or if it's simply massive, or it's pouring outside and they have to get it inside ASAP then yeah, you may have to help. Their first port of call will always be the floorstocker though rather than the rest of the castmembers.

The floorstocker is simply another position filled by a regular UK merch castmember. It's usually a different person each day; well, in theory, bit of a touchy subject sometimes. It requires some extra training so you won't be doing it straight away when you first arrive. They basically, for all intents and purposes, keep the pavillion running.

time passes quickly id imagine if you were gettin stuck into a delivery!

or thats how it was when i worked in boots! It would be time to go home before you knew it!

Tis like that in my work too... we only have 4 hours to do a delivery, no matter wot the size! It comes in through the front door and is unpacked on the floor, then we have to run it up the stairs! All this in 4 hours! lol

thanks for starting a thread for us future merchies bry. Im sure delivery will be a laugh. Whats the deal with the floor stocker will they still get to serve customers on other days?

Lol yeah i guess the time does go more quickly. EXCEPT when it's a tea delivery! Boxes and boxes of china! Stuff of Nightmares! :'( ;D I loved pin deliveries. I'm quite happy with ma pins. Just reaslied how sad I am. : ;D They were talkin about moving that stockroom around, if they haven't then keep an eye out for me amongst ma pins. I'm a'lurkin in there somewhere.

Marie, yeah the flookstocker is just a regular castmember. They just have a floorstock shift. It finishes a little later than the other closers since they have to close down the pavilion.

what are the different merch shifts - is it 8 shops? and then kidcot and floor stocker... i think its great they rotate us stop us getting bored.

Your either UK merch (you rotate round all the shops and kidcot) or floorstock. The standard shift is 10.30am - 9.30pm. Floorstock usually finishes at around 10pm. But it varies depending if ur a 5 or 4 day CM and what staffing levels are like etc.

Don't worry about dropping china. Never did it myself, but I know many who did. It doesn't come out of your pay.

Yip. We have a merch and a pin cart. : Great fun in the rain and heat. ;D

Well, that's in theory. : It's more common to get stuck in a loop. i.e. carts to sports, break, back to sports, then crown, break, back to carts, spots. etc. But you will work in every shop. Just not in every shop, every day.
