dude im in the same boat as you. it looks like everyone is on f & b except for a number of us. on this website you can look at the shops that all merchandise ppl will be working in, depending on which pavillion. ive been told dat the chances of extras hours cud be reasonable but it depends on the time of year whether its peak time n etc.

    Hey,
I've been working in a merch role for almost a month, I work in the Canadian Pavillion, I'm told you can be doing A LOT of overtime around christmas as for currently you can choose between doing a work 4 days and have 3 days off but obviously in the 4 days you have to work longer shifts, or you can do the classic work 5 days get two days off and those shifts are usually between 6 and 8 hours long, ALTHOUGH since I'm currently the newst merchie I'm stuck doing extra magic hours (EMH) as well as next week I'm given 2 12 hr shift (i'm not excited about it) The min amount of hours your suppose to work is 32. As well there a few different positions to do in merch as well as different places there is cash and stocking and in canada we have the leather engraver as well. anyway if you guys want to add me to msn my addy is the_ultimate_special_k@hotmail.com and I can address all your questions :p

I got round 130 - 160$ this week i will have more same with the next week. this is after they take out my rent and stuff all the merch is the same amount I am not sure if trainers get paid more or not to be a trainer I believe you have to apply go thru some interviews as well as be here for atleast 3 months AND you can't have any points against you I believe you would have to take a class as well I do not remember them mentioning that though. You don't really get extra shifts because everyone wants as much as they can get cuz we aren't makin tons you can ask or if people offer there shifts but other than that there isn't much you can do for extra shifts.

You can pick up shifts on the portal for other locations though.
For example you may work in one of the pavillions in epcot, but there are usually always extra shifts at magic kingdom, so you could pick up those.
The only rule is that u can only do shifts which you are trained for. So if its a merch shift you'd need to be matra trained etc. And if you were in merch you couldnt pick up shifts in F&B or Attractions etc.

I'm not sure if that's true... at least, it's not what I've been told.

Because of the visa (Q1: Cultural Representative) we're only able to work as a Representative for our country, which means we can only work at our pavillion in Epcot. I forget which thread it was mentioned in, but I remember asking the same question. I was originally given merch and was ecstatic with the idea of working in all 4 parks... but I was told I couldn't. If you're in another program and have a J1 visa I think you can get over time in other places and work in all parks, because your visa is just to work at Disney.

Yeah i think you are right¡¡¡ was there last summer with a J1 visa and had the opportunity to work at all 4 parks¡¡¡ but they told me you cant do that with a Q visa, but it didnt used to be like that about ten years ago.....but you never know ....maybe the legislation could change and then you will be able to do extra hours somewhere else ¡¡¡¡

TIP----people from merchandise and attractions can pick up food shifts where there is no trainning required. People from any role can pick up shift as parade control, handwrist distribution, wishes control etc....but these shifts are hard to find due to the fact thery are easy to do and fun¡¡¡

ya no working other places and there isn't a switch you can do where there is no training needed there is always training thats why it takes over a week after you get here to get to work not sure if there is anything else i need to add...but ya no much you can do about extra hours in orientaion they told us we cant use the hub to pick up extra shifts
