I got a years worth supply of medication, as Im still on my current companies benefits! At the pharmacy, they actually asked if I would be travelling, as indicated I was moving to the states, they made sure to put a perscription information sticker (as u normally get with a perscription) on each box, so if they check my luggage they know Im not going to be selling it....so hopefully it makes it through ok!

    THaNK YOU
    THANK YOU

That helps me out LARGE!! I was worried becuase I use Wal~Mart pharmacy and they are weird about giving out medications for long periods of time!!
The Dr. gave me perscriptions for like a year so I guess I would just go get them to fill it BEFORE I leave and I should be fine!!!

    THANKS AGAIN!!

I think I'll take with me enough med for 1-2 months,
    then buy them there..
..what worries me most is this question:

    How can I recognise them????

I mean, I know the Italian med names..
...but no clue about American ones!!

My doctor has said your only allowed to take 3 months worth of medication.
Then you'll have to buy the rest when your there!

I spoke to my nurse the other day and said it was no problem to give me 13 months worth of medication to take over there.

I think it depends on how much your doctor is willing to give you

Well i can bring them there, but i meant if there is no problem at migration at airport, do they let u enter with 13 boxes of med if u got the prescription?

I think i'm gonna go back to my doctor.
Cos i spoke to my asthma nurse ages ago and she said it would be ok. I went back a couple of months ago and spoke to the doctor and he said i wouldnt be allowed because, it's drug smuggling. Might be worth checking with the embassy, cos i really don't know how i'm gonna be able to afford my medication in america.

This is all i can find on the embassy website. I'm gonna print it off and take it to my doctors and see what they say. Doesn't say we can't take a years worth of stuff, or if not we get get stuff posted to us:

A traveler requiring medicines containing habit-forming drugs or narcotics (e.g. cough medicine, diuretics, heart drugs, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, depressants, stimulants, etc.) should:

    Have all drugs, medicines, and similar products properly identified;
Carry only the quantity that might normally be used by an individual having a health problem requiring such drugs or medicine:
Have either a prescription or written statement from your personal physician that the medicine is being used under a doctor's direction and is necessary for your physical well-being while traveling.
Medication can be sent by post if the prescription or doctor's letter is included. A notation should be placed on the outside of the parcel stating, for example, "DOCTOR'S LETTER ATTACHED."

If your Doctor/pharmacy won't give you more, having some else collect the prescriptions every couple of month would probably be a worthwhile option. I ended up doing this with contact lenses (ok, not exactly prescribed drugs, but the point remains) and it was more convenient than trying to get stuff sorted over in the US.
