what happens if you get poorly while your there coz they haven't got the NHS over there?! do we have to pay coz it's well expensive? can anyone help answer this one?
You have to get medical insurance to cover you for the first 3-4 months. After that, Disney has a benefits plan. You choose your coverage and pay a small fee on each paycheque...but it's small compared to what you'd pay otherwise! Shan
Make sure you're well covered, and if possible, have some cash saved up or a means of paying for medical care just in case. Even with insurance, depending on what situation arises, you may still find a fairly hefty bill. For example, my roommate got a virus and splashed out $350 for his antibiotics and a trip to Centracare (with insurance). If you take any asthma medication for example, get fresh supplies to bring with you from home, and a copy of your prescription if you can. Likewise with contact lenses and such if you wear them, as such things can be fairly costly over here. Hope this helps! Dan ;D
omg medical care is so horrendous - when we were on holiday in march my sis (whos 13) collapsed in 1 of the malls, she is one of the most healthy ppl i no so it was a bit weird anyway they took her in an ambulance (with mum) which we didnt hav a choice in and took her to the hospital, when we arrived they were doing all kinds of tests and brain scans all that kind of stuff and in the end couldnt find anythin wrong so they suggested takin her to our gp back home, anyway were all covered by police family insurance (my dad is a policeman) poice insurance is very good etc but even with that it cost mum and dad $3548, that i think is absolutley horrendous so dan was rite make sure u have money just incase ;D
I had breathing problems because of heat exhaustion, and they called out the paramedics. The treatment on the ambulance (pipes and electrodes stuck everywhere, medical advice etc) was all free, but when I got to the hospital, they gave me a choice. Have an X-Ray, or don't. It would have cost 5 grand, they said . So I didn't , and a few days off was thankfully sufficient. Take it easy guys! Dan
FIVE GRAND for an x-ray!!!, that's rediculous!!! I had an x-ray done on one of my teeth the other day, and it cost 10 bucks, the x-ray was much smaller of course, but anyway... FIVE GRAND!!!
LOL, thanx so if I fall over and have a heartattack, the first question out of their mouths probably won't be "how are you", but more likely "do you have insurance?" lol, that's america for ya
yeah, 60 mins had a story about that the other day, and they said that it was about twice as expensive in america, and could be all the way up to 10 times as expensive....
i jus dont see why tho? well ill jus make sure i wrap myself up in cottle wool for the year then lol ;D
Why, because if you're sick, you want to get well right, and you will pay whatever you have to pay to get well. So they raise the prices, 'cause they know people will pay. Also in America paralell-trading is against the law, which is the main thing that is keaping prices down in europe...
HEHE, I know ;D ;D ;D hun??? don't tell me you too think I'm a girl...or is that a general nick in th UK..??
i no your a guy its jus i call everyone hun have done for years - i think its jus a uk thing really ;D
