Do you guys have to insure against working accidents, too?
Or would a normal health insurance for tourists be enough? My agency says, I've also got to do the working stuff, aaaall the other CPRs say, the didn't care... I'm totally confused!!

well think of it this way. If your insurance isnt right, Disney WILL send you home. Says so in the info pack. Thats the thing they are most strict on.

Since we're going to be working, i would say you need working insurance, wouldn't you? :p lol.

You only have to insure yourself for the first 3-4 months anyway, after that you can go on Disney's insurance plan which is cheaper and completely comprehensive.

    @Jonbob:

In Germany, actually the employer pays if something happes at work. Okay, it is a bit more complicated, but I never had to worry about a new or extended insurance.

    Hi
Insure and Go is a good insurance company to go with The Backpacker gold policy with no excess is the one you want if you don't want to have to pay out if you need a trip to the Hospital
Remember if you have excess on your insurance it is like car insurance you have to pay that when you have the treatment, more money out of your pay.
Its also worth taking it out for thirteen months if you think you might go out early or stay on a bit after the program
The Disney insurance that you can do after 4 months is more money coming out of your wages and i am not sure is there is excess on this policy

I am going out 23rd Nov and start 8th Dec in Merch so look forward to meeting you all soon
    jd :)

dont go for the one yummy suggested, its quite a rip off for what they cover really, insureandgo gold backpackers is a lot better, plus you only need to cover yourself for 4 months then can opt into the disney insurance if not, you can extend your insurance!!! Seven Corners is not the cheapest and has a bare minimum coverage compared to most UK insurance companies!!

So what are you fellow Canadians going to use for insurance?? I really don't understand much about it to be honest, I've always been covered under my Dad b/c I'm still in university until the end of the year. And what am I looking at price wise if I want coverage for prescriptions and visits to the doctor... I'm not very lucky with health and the last thing I need is to be sick and pay out the wazoo for it lol

I actually need to start looking into this too. I'll post anything I come up with, but I would say you definitely want to make sure you are covered well. Better safe than sorry. Because if anything ever happened, you don't want to be footing the bill for health care services in the states, because it'll probably end up costing you both arms and legs... maybe more! :-\

Do any of you guys know how much it costs to see a doctor in the US? I'm trying to understand this deductible business and it would help if I knew what price I'm looking at lol. This is so complicated. I didn't realize how lucky we have it in Canada haha.

Also, I've looked into a couple companies and I've been trying to select that I'll be gone for a year and it says I can't do that. I've heard of other ppl buying coverage for a year and so, not using Disney's but maybe thats not possible?? Any thoughts?

Its complicated for us english too...we don't even have to have insurance here thanks to the NHS its all covered by the government. I have absolutely no clue when looking for medical insurance, and my family/friends are no help cos they've never had to do it either!!

I had a really bad cough once in FL, so I went to the clnic and they had me call me insurance and fax them something (dunno, but it was silly), and then they did a throat swab and that's IT and then prescribed me some meds. I got the papers showing me how much I had used of my coverage in like, November once I got home and it was something like 380 USD, which is crazy! I am so glad I live in Canada where it's free. I went through Blue Cross insurance and it was easy and pretty cheap and had all the right coverage. Disney told me the $$ deductible I needed though, so make sure you know how much you're supposed to have, otherwise they'll send you packing!

I regret buying my whole years insurance before leaving. I've had no medical problems yet but some places wont even see you if you have International Insurance. They Disney Insurance can cost about $10 a week but my God are you taken care off and seen immediately if you have problems

So you definately recommend to go with Disney's and just buy internationally the 3 months they require for the arrival??? Could it be more than $10?

Thanks for this, I feel a bit more secure about the whole insurance thing.

could be a bit more, could be a bit less. They do it in small chunks like $3 a week to cover dental. $5 for health ect. I dont know just how good it is but i wish i went for it as on my UK insurance, i'm scared to get even a cold let alone get an illness or have an accident

In regards to insurance for Canadians, it is kind of confusing. If you are from BC and are paying MSP (health insurance which is 57$ a month), you have to keep paying that while you have travel insurance (I don't know what other provinces are like in terms of health insurance). I don't think there are any companies that will give you travel insurance unless you are covered by the provincial government too! I think I will pay MSP for the whole year, just in case something happens, I can fly back to BC to get it taken care of (though it will mean over 600$ for just in case).
I dislocated my shoulder in the states last summer, and it was a good thing I had travel insurance. It would have been over three thousand dollars for the couple of hours I was at the hospital! So always veer on the safe side.
For the first three months, I think I'm going to go for RBC. They are like 260$ or something like that and no deductible, no limits.

I'm not sure of anything like that in Ontario, but just a clarification, we can't have travel insurance. Kristen told me specifically that it had to medical insurance, not travel. I'm not 100% sure on the difference though. Either way, I may just go with the one suggested on the yummy jobs site just to eliminate the stress.

I'm covered under the Seven Corners thing that Yummy Jobs set up that deal with, and I got it for the full year. Disney benefits cover a bit more, and it's more convenient, but when you do the math, Seven Corners is loads cheaper!
So if you have a good immune system and don't plan on getting sick much, might as well just go with something simple. Plus, Seven Corners is accepted at clinics because it is an American company, NOT international. But I've heard people who love their Disney insurance just as much. Then, there are also the risk-takers who get the mandatory 3-4 month coverage, and then don't get anything at all afterwards, but they're insane.
