Hey everyone! Just thought i'd tell all those canucks out there about Blue Cross Medical Insurance. I just set mine up for the summer and it was only $47.00 through them. It covers me from June 6th to Sept 6th so that's plenty of time. I thought insurance would be a lot more so i was happy about that.

Did you make sure that you got medical insurance and not just travel insurance?

I got mine for 3 months through CAA and it was both medical and travel insurance and it was about $245 cdn.

PS: Congrats on getting in the international CP!!

Health insurance is insurance that pays for medical expenses. It is sometimes used more broadly to include insurance covering disability or long-term nursing or custodial care needs. It may be provided through a government-sponsored social insurance program, or from private insurance companies.

Can you post the link for Blue Cross where you purchased your Insurance?

I went to Blue Cross Canada and cannot get a quote for 4 months of coverage under $255. I haven't heard of any Insurance providers that charge $47 and would love to know more....or did you mean $47/mth?

    Thanks for the info!

    Hi everyone
just a bit of information you might not be aware of
When you take out your medical insurance for a year if you intend to or think you might come home on a visit during the year make sure you state this to the insurance company
I have just taken out mine with insure and Go £267 for thirteen months.
I asked about coming home in an emergency and they said if you fly home your insurance will be void for the rest of the policy.
You have to pay an extra premium which allows you to fly out of America six times during the year and you can only stay out of the country for no more than 14 days at a time. They quoted an extra £38
The Gold backpacker with no excess, cover for working and existing medical conditions is a good one
    Hope this is of help
    Jade
